I have been a Registered Nurse 15 years and have worked in home health for most of that time. My husband is retired and "piddles" around the house and yard. We grow large vegetable gardens every year, then can and freeze what we grow. John and I have been married for 30 years. We have one son who lives close by. He is 28 years old.
My husband and I bought a few things on Ebay many years ago when it was still new. Over the last couple of years, we got the "eBay bug" again and bought many more things. So last September, while taking some time off from work, I decided to try my hand at selling.
I love collectibles and antiques, and have picked up a few over the years. My only REAL collection is my Watt pottery. I have Corningware, Fire King and Pyrex, but I use those everyday. When I find vintage or antique kitchenware at good prices, I have a hard time leaving it behind! And my cabinets can only hold so much! So I thought maybe I could make a little money buying and selling the things I enjoy the most.
This past summer I decided to cut my hours at work. That way I could spend more time at home with my husband. The plan was to sell on Ebay (like a part time job) on the Fridays I was off. I figured surely someone out there would have the same passion for vintage kitchenware like I do! And if things went really well, I was hoping to open a store by the end of the year.
Well, we did it! It's open! Our store is called The Antique Flea. We opened the third week of October and boy has it been fun (and alot of work)! We sell things that my husband and I enjoy: vintage glassware and new, vintage kitchenware, pottery, coins and antiques. We occasionally have newer items like clothing, purses, housewares, fishing items and jewelry. We like to call it our "online flea market". We are always looking for great bargains, and then we can pass them on to you. So, check back frequently, the inventory is always changing and you never know what you might find! You'll see...stop by!
We add inventory as time allows. We try to add new listings weekly, but honey, home health is a life, not a job! Sometimes time is a precious commodity. The "stockroom" is our spare bedroom. You should have seen the faces of some of our family members who came to stay the night at our house! They "wade through" the store. Our families have all been great sports and very supportive, some have even added to our inventory. We have enough in that room to last for months if I listed everday!
Seriously though, eBay is the best place to get great deals, or to get those hard to find collectibles you need to complete your set - all at a great price! You can find ANYTHING on this site! I wish I had known about eBay when I was collecting my Watt pottery! Boy at the money I could have saved!
So, yes, John and I now have our store open on eBay. It's called The Antique Flea. So come see us, "drop on down" as we like to say.
We'll see ya'll there!
