I own a 1966 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback that is my pride and joy! I was going through some hard times (divorce eminent) when the car came to me...a guy visiting his family from Arizona had parked it next to my beater with a "For Sale" sign in the window. I couldn't pass it up and bought it. People scoffed at me for buying the car and tried to convince me that I was too lame to restore it, much less show it. The 'Cuda was in rough shape from baking in the sun, but she was rust free and straight. I spent every free minute I had working on that car and had her done and ready to show in one year. I took my Barracuda to as many shows as humanly possible that year and won a bunch of trophies and plaques with her. One day, my brother-in-law (the biggest scoffer) came over to my house to show off the very first trophy he had won with his Camero (after several years of showing). He kept bragging to me how much better his car was compared to mine until I opened up my closet and showed him that it was packed to the ceiling with trophies. He hasn't spoken to me since! I showed my car for another year, then the worst thing that could have happened to me did...I was going for one last cruise before I had to put her away for the winter and was sitting at a red light when a drunk in a Blazer rear-ended my beautiful car at 60 mph. I was devestated. Not only was the guy driving drunk, he had no license, no insurance, and already had a warrant out for his arrest. He was promptly arrested for the warrant, but was never charged for the accident. To add insult to injury, my insurance agent "forgot" to switch my car from storage to on-the-road that Spring, so I had been driving around all summer long, in three states, showing...thinking I was insured...had the documents to show I was insured...but I really wasn't. I did sue my agent, but by the time everyone took their cut, I didn't have enough left over to repair car. So, I took my poor little Barracuda to my sister's house and there she sat for three years. I was too depressed to even look at her. I am on total, permanent disability so it isn't like I'm rich or anything like that. To come up with money for parts, we started selling on ebay. It took me five years of obsessing over getting the car done. I finally got her back on the road and took her to her first show on Memorial Day, 2007.
