Hi, I am a 40-something mother of three girls, and grandmother of Aiden, age 4, Mason, age 3, and Garrison, age 2 months. I was born and raised, (and also raised my children) on a farm in the country (on Newberry Road) and am still a country girl at heart, even though I now live in a small town nearby. I have been a nurse for 17 years, but due to a severe back injury a couple of years ago I have been forced into early retirement.

I first got involved with e-bay when my grandaughter was born, and quickly became addicted to shopping for clothing and toys for her. Once I could no longer work, I then started to sell a few things for spending money. After listing everything I could find, I started looking around for something I could do that would bring in a little money, but that I would enjoy doing.
I have been sewing for 35 years, and I love designing clothing, so after looking at all the beautiful little girl's pageant dresses being sold I decided to give that a try. My girls were involved in Pageants in the late 80's and early 90's and I designed and sewed all of their clothing. Styles have changed, but I am having fun learning the new techniques. I am excited to see how each dress improves!
Due to the vast number of requests for instructions on dying the hard bows I sell, here you go:
How to dye hard bows

Take the fabric you're trying to match to Walmart or other craft store and get the acrylic craft paint that is the closest match. One 2oz. bottle of paint goes a long way, you will also need fabric medium (will be in a bottle in the same section as the paint).

The formula is 2 ounces of acrylic paint to 1 ounce of fabric medium. The paint comes in 2 ounce bottles, the medium usually comes in 4 ounce bottles, so I use 1 bottle of paint and 1/4 bottle of the medium.

Put paint and fabric medium in a medium sized bowl in the sink, and add warm water till 3/4 full. Mix very well, then dip your bows and lay them out to dry. They may be perfect the first time or you may want to dip them again.

You can dip as many times as you like, just make sure and let them dry between dips.
