Alden Dreyer
WHO I AM
Alden is 65 years old and is a retired Boston and Maine Corporation rail traffic controller after a career spent mostly west of the Willows. Lived all my life in the Massachusetts hills and keep busy with raising a family, feeding the hens, building a garage, collecting Hoosac Tunnel material, riding Amtrak and visiting friends in the UK and China from time to time. Not to mention active membership in the B&MRRHS, NHRHTA, R&LHS, NAOTC, Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum and a passive lifetime member of the WW&F Ry Museum and the Shelburne Historical Society and annually at the North Adams HS.WHAT I DO
As a not-for-profit retirement hobby, I buy, sell, trade and restore Boston & Maine Railroad Employees' Magazines 1924-60 and RAILROAD MAGAZINE, under its seven various titles from 1906-55. After reading railroad history for 50 plus years, I regard the employees' magazines of the various roads as the best source of railroad-specific information, and Railroad Magazine as the best source of generally accurate railroad information. Also, as a public service, I stock various other B&M papers, such as many B&M BULLETINS and timetables, and all issues of TRAINS and RAILROAD 1929-79, plus other miscellaneous publications like R&LHS BULLETINS, L&RP, R&R, Shoreliner, etc. I've been doing this for a long time and experience counts! She is slightly embarrassed as we pose to promote my local Shelburne Falls newspaper. Alden tries to keep eBay simple for himself and his bidders. I do not end auctions early. Snipers are always welcomed, but early bidders get the best selection of freebies. All railroad paper is shipped FREE in the USA and foreigners are only asked to pay the differential postage cost. My auctions that end on a Sunday afternoon are normally all shipped the next day, except when the USPS is closed, if I have a payment plan and shipping address, or you a previous relatively-recent buyer. Waiting for payment before shipping, as some sellers do, is an insult to the buyer. After 9 years of eBay selling, my auction listings are fine tuned to sell fine railroad paper, at reasonable prices, without eroding values or leaving me with an excessive number of No Bid items. Things that go No Bid are NOT reposted for at least 6 months, sometimes not for years, and as often as not, they are never reposted as I sell them direct. I do not dump, but I try to keep everyone happy by offering Second Chance Offers where I do have duplicates to sell. If there is something you want to see posted, please ask. Almost everything I sell was purchased to help out railroad widows, former B&M associates, railroad museums or historical societies. So helping yourself to my auction material helps them also.
