Designing and making custom children's clothing is my passion.

I began sewing by hand as a child for my Barbie doll. My mother taught me hand embroidery, and Home Ec classes whetted my machine sewing  appetite.  I bought my first machine as a college freshman and made lots of my college wardrobe including evening gowns.

As a young married wife, I continued sewing and took tailoring classes and began to teach beginning sewing lessons. With the impending birth of my first daughter, I took a smocking class and was immediately hooked on this beautiful form of embroidery on  pleats.  I teamed this with my sewing skills and made many things for my daughter.  Soon mothers began to ask me to make smocked things for their children.  I joined SAGA and learned Heirloom Sewing. 

Over the next 10 years and births of 3 more daughters, I formed a business with a friend; we made and sold heirloom and smocked clothing to children's boutiques in major Southern cities.  I also designed custom special occassion heirloom dresses and christening gowns for local clients.

When I resumed full time school teaching 10 years ago, my sewing time became limited and I closed my business.  With recent changes in my life and the world of Ebay, I am now designing and sewing custom children's wear again including for my darling grandson! I love every minute of it!  I have a store/shop line in the works in addition to my custom work. 

Over the years, I have attended Martha Pullen's School of Art Fashion numerous times and taken many classes in fine sewing and embroidery from these teachers:  Elizabeth Travis Johnson,  Sarah Howard Stone, Margaret Boyle, Wendy Schoen, Wendy Lee Ragan, Laura Jenkins Thompson, Beverly Sheldrick, Judith Baker Montano, Kitty Benton, Chery Williams, Camiela Nitschke, Susan York, Esther Randall, Susan Stewart, Kay Guiles, Trudy Horne, Kari Mecca, Margaret Pierce, Jenny Haskins, and others.

I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Music Education, Cum Laude, Phi Kappa Phi, from The University of Mississippi.
