How many times have you bought something you didn't really want or need just because it was a bargain? Not that bargains are a bad thing! I have spent MANY years acquiring antique items that turned out to be outstanding bargains although they didn't seem so at the time I acquired them: because true value is seldom very cheap.

IT IS TRUE THAT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, BUT ONLY IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT!

I always recommend purchasing books and auction catalogues about subjects of interest before investing any serious money in them. Museum exhibitions are also useful in honing your "eye".

Knowledge helps to give you an edge and that knowledge only comes through study, research and a cewrtain level of hands on experience. My interest in Asian cultures has allowed me to acquire many GENUINE ANTIQUES during many years of collecting in a market that is today glutted with reproductions and copies.

Ebay has opened up a world of opportunity for those willing to search and learn. Items that twenty years ago were only available to the seasoned world traveler are now available at your fingertips. Even so, caution and a keen eye are still useful tools when coupled with research and study.
