Juli Ryan is a self-taught artist who believes everyone has something special to express--and she chose painting as a way of expressing herself. Her abstract paintings reveal those emotions close to all of us: love, fear, lonliness, joy, sadness. Her family and her childhood both greatly influence her painting.

Juli paints exclusively with acrylics and uses a unique sponging technique to create a marbled background for many of her paintings. Her most popular series has been the Curly Tree Series where she has taken curly trees to demonstrate emotion, spirituality and a sense of mystery. She also likes to use layers of circles in her paintings. This creates vibrant color and adds meaning to that area of the piece.

Juli lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband, Sean, and three children, Ashley, Keegan and Lucas. She also has two black cats, Francis and Lord Infamous. Juli loves to read, garden, paint and listen to music.
