HOW WE GOT STARTED!
LSDiscs started out by selling only used discs. It started with 5 of us (all brothers) Kjell, Bren, Lars, Hans, and Nils. The local disc golfers put up a new course right by our house and Lake Shawnee. Coming from a family that played ball golf, we were no stranger to fishing out golf balls from a creek, pond, lake, or forest, and sell them to the people playing. Some would view that as taking advantage of other's misfortunes... we liked to think of it as donating back to the game!!! This idea carried over to disc golf since Lake Shawnee Disc Golf Course has several water holes. Bren started fishing for discs so that he didn't have to buy them. His brothers quickly caught on and started to fish for them too. While Kjell and Bren were in college, Lars, Hans, and Nils took it to another level. They went 'looking' almost every day. They built up an impressive stock of at least 500 discs. Soon enough, people started to hear about them (because they had their old discs!) and come to us to get them back for the standard $3 retrieval fee. The locals labeled them 'The Disc Nazis,' because we always ended up with their plastic. After awhile they started getting a steady base of local disc golfers coming to buy plastic from them. When Bren graduated from college, he came home and saw what his little brother had built, and saw an opportunity to keep building. If the 'Disc Nazis' already had a steady clientelle of people looking for used plastic, why not give them the opportunity to buy new plastic at the same time?

We decided to open up a new and used disc golf store. The first step was to come up with a name. We figured that we should name it after the course that started us out. Thats when we came up with LSD (Lake Shawnee Discs). We thought it was pretty funny so we stuck with it! As equal business partners, Bren, Lars, Hans, and Nils, started selling new discs. We started with about a hundred discs in the Winter of 05 and have built from there. We have been striving to offer our customers the best, and newest equipment on the market at competitive prices. LSDiscs, since it's opening, has sponsored several local disc golf t-ments and looks forward to more in the future. We encourage the growth of Disc Golf and love to see new players on the course. We offer extremely low prices on used starter sets and will let people borrow these sets if they don't have their own equipment or just one to try something out! If you are looking for a good starter set (new or used) let us know. We love to see the new interest in the game and will set you up with a nice set thats easy on the pocket book. Also, if you are looking for something in our store and don't find it, please contact us. We possible have it, but might not be listed. We hope this gives you an idea of who we are and where we came from! If you ever are in Topeka, Kansas let us know and we would love to throw a round.... or two!!!
Recently we have started sponsoring players on the local and national scenes and it has been working out great! We currently have players all over the US in both the Pro and Am divisions! As a part of our growing efforts, we are looking for LSDiscs representitives (sponsored players) in all division to help get our name out. The main requirement is that you play a lot of DG! Simply drop us a line and tell us about yourself, pdga #, etc.. and we would gladly take a look!
