Automotive and Motorsports Art by David F. Kyte, Not merely Digitally filtered photographs like some prints you see on Ebay. These are carefully crafted and highly detailed digital paintings that capture the beauty of the subject car. All prints are carefully created using quality inks and paper.
Ever since I was a kid I have drawn or painted cars, being born in Detroit and having lived all my life in Motown cars would only be a naturally subject for my artistic expression. Drawing certainly is a much more exciting thing to do on a boring school day. I still use the #2 pencil, and from time to time and I pull out the paints to create what a friend calls melly artThere still is something about the smell of oil paints I love, but recent advancements in computer hardware and software have made digital art a practical addition to my traditional paintings. Even with the computer I still tend to work in a rather traditional manner, preferring to painting what I want using a Wacom drawing tablet and purposely avoiding the use of filters and digital tricks. To guarantee the optimum in print quality all my prints are created from high resolution digital files. The reason for this is very simple, esolution = detail.I pride myself on the fine detail I incorporate into my artwork and for that detail to show on the final print it is important to start with a file that for a typical 12x16 print can be as large as 200 megabytes. This makes for a print that has vibrant color and smooth crisp lines.

The other big digital advancement is the current crop of color inkjet printers. Inkjets have been able to create great looking prints for some time now but have suffered from premature fading of the color inks. The new combination of improved inks and papers have now made it possible to make prints with image quality and longevity greater than traditional print making methods. My current printer is an Epson 4000. The 4000 takes advantage of the company's award-winning Epson UltraChrome ink technology. UltraChrome Inks are water resistant and offer lightfastness ratings for color images up to 80 years on specific Epson papers under non-UV glass. When displayed under UV-protected glass, color lightfastness is rated at more than 100 years. This is better than the best widely available conventional photographic print life by 20-40 or more years. You can be assured my prints will last.
