To keep this page relevant to eBay, I first jumped on eBay in 1999 when I think I was still collecting baseball cards. I played on the web around the 2000 and 2001 timeframe showing off my ignorance on how to lose money on high flying internet stocks.
What is ironic is that the TYPES of businesses that I thought were going to do well (search and advertising) are a large part of what eventually refueled the web. I was just investing a bit too early ;)
By the time Google went public I went from being almost bankrupt to doing well again (I think I sorta ebb and flow with the web) and I bought some Google stock for $99 a share. I have since sold it and bought more, but mostly I am just interested in search and the effects the web have on culture and social interaction.
Now I find myself back on eBay again, but this time more from the perspective of trying to learn how they will mesh everything together and how successful they will be at it. |
