I have been eBaying since 1998. When I began having fun with eBay, most people had never heard of it. Since then I have made eBay part of my everyday consuming. I find things that I cannot buy at a retail store and, since I like recycling, I am happy to find good homes for things whose use I have outlived. I use eBay as a research tool. I enjoy the community of eBayers that has formed over the years. I meet the occasional no-good, deadbeats, but they are few and far between, compared the number of fair and honest sellers and buyers whom I have encountered.
Yes, the founder of eBay is a very wealthy man today, but he has performed a valuable social service by bringing buyers and sellers together, thereby improving how markets work! It is a great example of markets without frictions.
If you were wondering how I got such a strange eBay name, its because I moved to Kansas in 1994 and immediately fell in love with big, furry bison. Many people have the crazy idea to repopulate empty areas of the Midwest Plains with bison. That sounds like an ecologically sound idea to me and one that would have many benefits to humans and the land.
