Black-Sheep Apparel and Promotions, LLC was established October 10, 2006 to produce irie apparel for irie people. Black-Sheep Apparel and Promotions, LLC was established by Donavan Thomas who is Jamaican. The foundation for Donavan’s life, which was laid in Jamaica, is the contributing factor for the creation of Black-Sheep Apparel and Promotions, LLC (BSAP). BSAP plans to create apparel with both positive and provocative messages and designs for people who are not afraid to deviate from what is considered normal.
The name Black-Sheep was chosen for the company because the word “black-sheep” normally has a negative overtone associated with it by society. However, in this context the word black-sheep is used in a positive way. Black-Sheep is an innovator and refers to anyone who thinks outside the box and who does not always conform to what society says is normal. A “Black-Sheep” accepts the fact that it is ok to be different. We hope that people who wear BSAP apparels not only enjoy them for the quality, designs and messages but realize that is also cool to value substance over materialism. Thank you for your support of Black-Sheep Apparels and Promotions, LLC and don’t be afraid of being a Black-Sheep.
BSAP Social Consciousness:
We at Black-Sheep Apparel and Promotions recognize that young people today are faced with many challenges at home, at school and in the streets. Although they are innovators in their own way, many are often misunderstood and seen as “black sheep” by society because of the way they express themselves, i.e. the way they talk and dress. They often fall prey to a system, which now seems to value materialism over substance. Young men and women are been fed denigrating images and messages from various sources that are now more accessible than before. These sources include the Internet, the music they listen to and the programs they watch on television.
With these sources of influence the value system within our society and amongst today’s youth is slowly eroding. BSAP wants to be a positive source influence to young people by creating positive and provocative messages and designs as way to show young people that they can think outside the box while upholding a strong and moral value system.
