Aug, 2007. We're back up to normal after our 2 year soap opera. I am doing well after my second bout with cancer 2 years ago. Our home is almost finished (we had a serious fire the same day I had my diagnosis and the same day my handicapped son had a human rights violation done to him by his former boss) We were never able to recover insurance as we still can't locate the people. Long, long story. We lived in 1 room with no electric except an extention cord to a neighbor for 6 weeks and are redoing our home ourselves. Last Feb. someone tried to take over our home after some hocus pocus with taxes and information that was obtained by methods not allowed from the county. Another long story that took us on a trip through the legal system to resolve. John ended up with gall bladder surgery then almost died from pancreatitis from a stone left behind and just when things looked brighter, John had a cardiac arrest- he survived and now has a defibrillator in his chest. Electrical problem, not a heart attack, thankfully. Needless to say we slowed down our eBay business. But now we are back. All of us here are doing well and grateful to have survived the fire and our illnesses. My son has a new job that he loves. The worst thing that happened to us was the death of our beloved dog Jack to a brain tumor shortly after the fire. This we feel in our hearts everyday. I would like to than our buyers in the eBay community for their patience and well wishes during our difficult times.

About Me...
I am Janet, a 11 yr breast cancer survivor from Long Island, now with a new tumor and a very good prognosis. My husband I and I had a shop back in the 70's and had accumulated piles of stuff. In 1999, we decided to sell some of it on eBay for a trip across the country to see Tom Petty at the Fillmore. This evolved into a full time business for us. Having experinced a life threatening illness and landing on my feet, my priorities rearranged. I worked as a nurse full time since 1969 but now I want to spend more time at home with my husband of 34 years, John and our son John and my 4 Malties

and the cat from hell.

I had a large chunk of my retirement funds lost when the hospital I worked for went bankrupt, but eBay has saved the day. I retired from full time nursing and work side by side with my husband. We are busy, and I wish I had more time to write and and scrapbook. I am a contributor in the follow up anthology, INTENSIVE CARE: POETRY AND PROSE BY NURSES, University Of Iowa Press. Burningswan is a nom de plume given to me by my fellow poet and eBayer the late Mike McNeilley (bestjunk). It is just a mangled pronounciation of my last name. I love it! My personal web page is writing and graphics on the experience of cancer. My poetry, prose, and graphics appear all over the internet and in the small press and I was a Pushcart Prize nominee for poetry. I scrapbook and enjoy altered arts and collage.

Q. How can we contact you?
We usually are online monitoring the email from 10 am to 10 pm everyday.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept the following forms of payment, all in $US funds:
PayPal (UNVERIFIED accounts are at our discretion, please check with us first).
Money Order
Cashier's Check
Personal Check
Western Union Auction Payments
International: payment via PayPal by our discretion, Western Union Auction Payments, check drawn on an American bank. Cash is at your risk. Japan & Canada can use postal money orders if the amount is in US DOLLARS.
Our Paypal ID is janetb1135@aol.com
Q. Do you offer combined Shipping and Handling?
Yes! For example 1 to 9 postcards are mailed at the price of one. Combining items is dependent on weight. If we miss combining your item, please let us know. Please note if you are paying by PayPal, that multiple payments to PayPal can be costly for us and can effect how we combine fees. John wraps all packages. He cuts cardboards or plastic boards to the size of the item, uses hard platic holders & neatly wraps the package in plastic, and tapes the package securely so the item cannot shift. We do not drop items into a priority box and have them rattle around in the mail system. We have gotten packages like that.
Q. Can I add insurance to my package? If so, How much does it cost?
We highly recommend that insurance coverage is added to every package. Insurance is not automatically added to your invoice, so you must contact us if you are interested in it. The current insurance fees are:
$1.30 for items $.01 - $50
$2.20 for items $50.01 - $100
$3.30 for items $100.01 - $200
burningswan are NOT RESPONSIBLE for damaged goods that are uninsured!
Q. I paid with Paypal, can you ship to an alternative address?
In order to be covered under PayPal's seller protection policy, we can only ship to your CONFIRMED PayPal address. More information can be found on PayPal's Website
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Q. Can I pick-up my item(s) and save on shipping costs?
Sorry, we are not set up for this.
Q. I do not have time to look through 1000+ items of your other auctions, can you direct me to...?
Ebay has a feature called "Seller Search". It is featured just above our listing with a few links to the most popular item catagories.
Q. I just got my package today, but the postage was actually $x.xx. Why the extra cost?
As the auction states, there a small Handling charge, which is in addition to the actual postage. We do not make a profit on handling charges nor do we manipulate the eBay system to avoid paying fees. You've seen them: listings for almost nothing with grossly inflated shipping charges.
Q. How soon are the items shipped after receipt of payment?
We usually ship items that require insurance, customs, tracking etc. twice a week. Generally your order will be mailed to you within 7 business days of the receipt of payment. Checks may be held for 10 business days before shipping.
Q. What method(s) of shipping do you use?
We usually use first class mail (sometimes media and priority)
