I just wanted to voice my opinion about the 5 star rating system and the fact that SELLERS cannot leave NEGATIVE feedback. The only 2 neutrals I have ever received were retaliatory. I had left NEUTRAL feedback for the SELLERS (and I knew what was coming back from them feedback-wise, based on their historical feedback practices). To me, the fact that SELLERS can't leave retaliatory NEUTRAL/NEGATIVE feedback is a good thing, but it's also a bad thing that a SELLER can't leave NEUTRAL/NEGATIVE feedback for non-paying bidders (to warn other SELLERS). I always pay, so I don't know what eBay does to non-paying BIDDERS as punishment. As far as the 5 star rating, if the item is as described, if the seller notifies me upon shipment, if the seller ships within a reasonable amount of time (for me usually shipping within 3 business days of payment is quick enough), if the seller packages with care and I can determine where the "over the cost of postage" handling was spent, that SELLER will receive 5 stars from me for each transaction detail. So if you want 5 stars, then describe accurately and note any flaws, email/notify me upon shipment, ship within 3 business days of payment, and don't charge for materials you don't use and don't charge me for time you haven't taken to package an item properly for transit. OH well...that's MY CRITERIA for giving SELLERS those 5 stars.
Since some people think I hate eBay and eBay SELLERS. I don't hate the SELLERS. I DISLIKE INTENSELY DISHONESTY, MISREPRENTATION and NOT HAVING INTEGRITY. I thought I'd better put up some good SOUNDOFF about the ethical SELLERS who operate with INTEGRITY and HONESTY!
Big THANKS to Mike. Mike sent me 3 piggy ornaments. Although packaged pretty well, there just wasn't enough bubble wrap/padding to keep them safe during transit. He gave me a GENEROUS refund for the broken ornament. Thank you MIKE for your INTEGRITY!
SELLER NEEDS TO BE MORE ETHICAL/RESPONSIBLE IN DESCRIPTION!
Well, I just received my 2nd NEUTRAL feedback from a SELLER who leaves retaliatory feedback. I bid and won a bunch of piggies from this SELLER. On receipt, 2 of the larger figurines had OBVIOUS DAMAGE which had not been mentioned in the description and 1 received transit damage (see packaging material in photos below). Damage was not obvious from auction photo. IF SELLER had mentioned "couple with damage or chips" I would have ASKED specific questions about which figures were damaged. I consider this type of SELLER behaviour IRRESPONSIBLE and UNETHICAL.
I did ask for a couple of dollars refund due to the DAMAGE on 2 of the larger figurines. SELLER did offer refund on return of ALL items.
I wanted to keep the ones that were in good condition, so did not agree to this. Photos below are what I sent him (asking why he couldn't have mentioned the damage in his description...which was not obvious in auction photo)
My 1st message sent to Art:
Arthur, Piggies arrived today, but I was unhappy to discover that 2 of the figurines had damage which was not described in the auction description and nearly impossible to see in the auction photo. The Sow with Piglets figurine, the little pig all by himself is missing both ears and the Pig in the little sty figurine, the sty had damage (prior and received some in transit). I'll send photos. I'm sorry, but this was easily seen and felt on having the items in my hand. You could have at least mentioned that some were damaged in your auction description, which would have prompted me to ASK about condition. Candice :(
Art Replied:
I'm very sorry about that if you wish to return them I will refund your money plus shipping once again very sorry Art
I reply (Nastiness due to this happening to me too many times on eBay)
Art,
It really wouldn't be worth my time or money to return them. I did get one decent figurine. It's just the dishonesty that really bothers me.
Prior damage although obvious with figurine in hand was not obvious in photo nor described or mentioned in auction description.
I bid thinking they were all in good shape. Of course, I do know it is buyer beware and your feedback score of less than 99 percent should have sent up a red flag in my mind. I was hoping to add some nice piggies to my piggy collection and of course eBay sharks feed and depend on bidders who get too excited to think straight.
I guess although I'm an experienced buyer, I am naive enough to expect honest represenation of items put up for eBay auction. It's hard for me to fathom that someone would do intentionally or thoughtlessly leave out any mention of such damage or that a honest SELLER would just leave it up to the one small photo in the auction body to imply (or mask) condition of items.
Sorry...just upset because I bid in good faith and am mad for having too much faith in people in general.
One figurine missing 3 ears, part of an ear and 1 leg.
2nd figurine damaged prior to transit and then transit damaged.
See photos below:
Well, I just received my 1st NEUTRAL feedback from a DIRTBAG SELLER who leaves retaliatory feedback. I bid and won 3 tubes of Sebastian Laminates Gels from the DIRTBAG. Paid speedily as I usually do. SELLER shipped 2 of 3. Refused to ship the 3rd. Refused to refund 1/3 of my TOTAL PAID (I know...I know....most SELLERS don't refund shipping...). I bid with the cost per item in mind (as I usually do). SELLER did offer 1/3 of bid price. I thought, he should send the 3rd item, make good on the auction terms. (he, as a matter of course, blamed his packager as he usually does if you check his feedback (or the POST OFFICE or the BUYER for not purchasing INSURANCE). SELLER apparently only responsible for RAKING in PAYMENTS, not for fulfilling auction obligations). I filed a DISPUTE with Paypal, SELLER escalated MY DISPUTE to a CLAIM. Paypal refunded TOTAL amount only if I returned items. I did RETURN AT MY EXPENSE, because I didn't want my home CONTAMINATED by this SELLERS items. I left a NEUTRAL feedback although SELLER deserved a NEGATIVE for the WORST customer service I've ever experienced on eBay. I KNEW I was going to get the RETALIATORY feedback from the SCUM(that's why I couldn't bear to leave NEGATIVE). I suggest any BIDDERS THINK TWICE and check this SELLERS FEEDBACK prior to bidding (as I should have done). I'm an experienced eBay BUYER and I learned a LESSON from this creep. Good luck to those who bid and win from him. Hopefully his "packagers" and/or "the postal service" will perform responsibly in getting your items won to you. Signing off and Best of luck to his UNFORTUNATE BUYERS!
Oh Dear, Back on my packaging soapbox!
Poor packaging again
Bid and won some beautiful crystals. I know I got a bargain, but bargain is no bargain when items arrived damaged due to poor packaging. I would have gladly paid some extra handling for appropriate packaging. All 4 groups of crystals were in 4 separate plastic bags with twist tie closure. All shipped in small PRIORITY box. One bag had TWO VERY HEAVY CRYSTALS. Some effort was made to pad interior walls of box. No padding between bags of crystals. No filler material to keep bags from shifting. No wrapping of crystals inside the bags (crystal against crystal). I did receive some good crystals but I don't know how many were damaged. Emptied bags on Cloth and found lots of shiny bits. SELLERS, try to think about transit hazards/conditions before you package!
Oh Dear, I'm WEIRD!
Specifically, Asked for refund of difference between auction stated USPS PRIORITY and SELLER shipping USPS First Class
Thank you dear (you know who you are) for those kind words with which you contacted me through eBay. Perhaps I should have left a NEUTRAL or NEGATIVE instead of a POSITIVE feedback.
SELLERS BEWARE of me, I'm WEIRD. I expect you to stand by the terms of your auction as stated in the auction description. I will complain if you state USPS PRIORITY SHIPPING @ $X.XX and then you ship the items by USPS FIRST CLASS and pocket the difference. If you want to charge HANDLING, don't disguise it as either PARCEL POST or USPS PRIORITY in your auction terms and then ship FIRST CLASS, pocketing the difference.
Pd $6 PRIORITY,SLR Shpd 2.44 First Class,Refuses to refund $1.41 diff,SCAMMERS!
Seller coyoteclan ( 196) Dec-17-04 15:23 2292407227
I paid promptly for this item which included auction stated shipping as USPS Priority Shipping for $6.00. SELLER shipped First Class for $2.44. The item arrived timely, but I paid in good faith for USPS PRIORITY shipping according to the stated auction terms. I asked the SELLER for a refund of the difference between $3.85 (1 pound shipping) and the $2.44 he spent for First Class. He refused to refund me the $1.41 difference. His reasoning for shipping First Class was that it would be faster than Priority (well duh...then why is PRIORITY called PRIORITY, does its handling not take precedence over other methods of USPS shipping?). My reasoning for asking for the refund of the difference was that the auction agreement was for shipping by USPS PRIORITY. I was aware that $2.15 of the $6.00 shipping charge was for "handling" and that in bidding and winning the auction, we as BUYER and SELLER contracted that the item would be shipped by USPS PRIORITY based on the auction description terms. I don't mind the handling fee, I do mind someone stiffing me for the difference in shipping expense when THEY pocket the savings. Looking at this SELLERS feedback, I can see why he has so many NEGATIVES. He apparently deserves them.
Will gladly rescind this if I EVER get a refund,Pd Reqrd Ins,NO REFUND YET
Buyer candice157 ( 1047) Oct-07-04 04:56 4910324794
I paid promptly for these items including the REQUIRED insurance and never received them. I have been in contact with the SELLER since then and have waited a 30 day period (which unfortunately I didn't realize would put me past the time period for which I could complain to eBay about a transaction), I then waited another 10 day period, and I then waited and waited. SELLER sent replacement jewelry (which is going to be RETURNED) without asking me if this would be a viable option to a FULL REFUND. I asked SELLER if replacement jewelry duplicated the items I won in the auction. No response from SELLER. I told SELLER that I would have to leave NEGATIVE feedback if I did not get a refund. A successful SELLER should not have any trouble refunding for an item and then waiting THEMSELVES to collect the insurance refund. Most all SELLERS I've dealt with have refunded immediately when there was a problem. One SELLER did send me the USPS paperwork to fill out for the refund myself. I left the NEGATIVE feedback today, because I was afraid the time limit would run out before I could leave any feedback at all. I will glady withdraw this negative feedback if I can get satisfaction from the SELLER.
Transit damaged,Shippd loosely packaged in LARGE bubble envelope. Box Pkg Needed
Seller mason29trooper ( 60) Sep-23-04 17:25 3685525579
SELLER shipped this heavy item in a LARGE bubble envelope. The item had been wrapped with a single wrap of LARGE BUBBLE WRAP and placed loosely into a LARGE bubble envelope. Item was damaged when it arrived. This item required a box container for safe shipping or at least to have the large envelope securely taped around the item. No recompense was offered by SELLER for his lack of proper packaging.
FEEDBACK: My policy for giving feedback is to mention communication, speed of shipment (by posted date) AND packaging. I like to establish email communication, have item shipped in a reasonable time frame (to me reasonable is within 7 days of payment requirements being met) and for reasonable/adequate CARE(wrapping to prevent scrubs/rubs, padding to prevent breakage/chips) to be taken to prevent damage to items during transit. I try to comment on these in my POSITIVE feedbacks. If I don't mention ALL three in feedback, then something was lacking.
I just want to say "THANK YOU" to all the KIND SELLERS who have put up with my many questions (especially questions about S&H)! Transacting on eBay has become a shopping pleasure for me and I owe all my pleasure to the PLEASANT & HELPFUL attitude of MOST of the SELLERS. MANY THANKS for their KINDNESS and PATIENCE!
(PIGS & KINDNESS Rule!)
ATTENTION! If I haven't paid or contacted you within 3 days of auction end, I'm either DEAD or have FORGOTTEN. PLEASE email me and REMIND me!
MORE SELLER THANKS! Thanks to all the SELLERS who take the time and effort to PACKAGE with CARE. (Those who wrap breakable items INDIVIDUALLY and with DOUBLE wrapping, who PAD outer rim of container and who IMMOBILIZE/SECURE items so they don't BOUNCE around like ROCKS in a ROCK tumbler) You can say what you will about any shipping service, but most items will ARRIVE INTACT if packaged properly (I've seen AND experienced the difference between GOOD and POOR packaging!
DISAPPOINTED AGAIN! April 2003 Just received DAMAGED goods again! AGAIN from SELLER using minimal packing materials on RESIN items. SELLERS, I KNOW these items can be sent safely. I've received MANY that made it through the RIGORS of TRANSIT. HOW? or do you CARE? If you CARE, please feel free to contact me and I'll give you some HINTS. (HINT 1: Large bubble wrap, which goes for < 20 cents a square foot). I would rather fund FIVE SQUARE FEET of LARGE bubble wrap (and a bit of tape) than pay for insurance!
DISAPPOINTED! I just can't understand the SELLERS who toss FRAGILE, BREAKABLE (RESIN IS BREAKABLE!)items LOOSE into a box or bag, ship them, AND expect them to arrive INTACT! SELLER, if I ask for individual wrapping, I'm NOT doing it because I just LIKE to TYPE or make you work a little harder, I have GOOD REASON for it! Individual wrapping has made the difference between my receiving INTACT items versus DAMAGED items.
