I've been able to travel to many places around the world. But, all things considered, there's no place quite like the Mountain West. For me, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana are the most beautiful places on Earth. The area whose boundary can be generally defined by the Mountain Time Zone never ceases to amaze me in any season. I'm in awe of the scenery, of course. I'm also intrigued by the area's history and culture -- its original inhabitants, those who settled what we know of as "the old west," and those people like me who love the "new west" of today. Happily, I'm at home in two of the most beautiful areas of the Mountain West -- the Teton Valley, not far west of Jackson, WY; and at the edge of the vast 3-million-acre Tonto National Forest in Arizona.
The landscape and moods of the Mountain West are the inspiration behind the designs I create. I try to capture a sense of the magnificence that astounds me. The Painted Desert. Red Rock and Slick Rock country. Towering evergreens. Rugged canyonlands and mountain peaks. Dramatic sunsets. And much, much more. I primarily use genuine and natural elements in my designs -- gemstones, silver, wood, gold, leather and more. I'm a big fan of turquoise in all of its hues, and also attracted to gemstones that reflect the western scenery in their gentle Earth tones -- Jasper, Rhodonite, various Agates, and a range of others. My pieces are man made (by me). As such, they're no match for what Mother Nature gave the region on a vast scale. But, while they can't rival the majesty of the Mountain West, they can serve as a symbol of the respect and admiration that I have for this great land. Thanks for stopping by.
