"Cherbear's Den"

About Cherbear and what she does...

Hi, my name is Cherbear. I got this name by a wonderful person named Ppat in the Regular Cafe here at eBay. She took my first name of Cheryl and my love of bears and came up with Cherbear. I am Married with 4 kids.

DUTCH AUCTIONS:

Here is how dutch bidding works..... First thing to do is, look where it says sellers name like on a normal auction.

Then below that where the highbidders names normally goes, well click on that, It will say See High Bidders. Dutch auctions: works like this the seller has say 5 items, The top 5 items that people bid on win, but they pay the lowest persons successful bid price:

Example 1

  • Nina wanted 1 item for 20.00 each.
  • Nicky wanted 2 items for 16.00 each
  • Nancy lee wanted 1 item for 15.50 each
  • Ricky wanted 2 item for 7.60 each (would have the option of completing the transaction as the total quantity on which they bid cannot be filled)
  • Robby wanted 2 items for 7.50 each
  • Rusty wanted 1 item for 5.00 each

So what you would do is count from down From Nina to Ricky. They will be the winners, everyone would pay the 7.60 for each of the items that they wanted.

But Ricky will only get one of his items (If he decides to get only one, or he doesn't have to get any of the items being he did bid on 3 items.) and Robby and Rusty will get none. Being she only had 5 items and 9 were bid on.

Example 2

20 items for sale: 5.00 start bid
  • 1 person bids 8.00
  • 1 person bids 7.00

No other bidders? then both will pay the 5.00 starting price of the auction.

On this example. Being as though not all items were bid on. The starting price prevails.

The items would have to all be bid on and have an over bid of bidders, like supply and demand. but being as though the supply is greater than the demand, then all will pay the starting price of this auction.

Example 3

Also if someone bid on all of the items, then they will pay what they bid, like say... 10 items on this auction starting price was $5.

Johnny wanted all 10 items he bids 10.00 for each of them, now what happens is, the price will go up to 10.00 each being he wanted all of the items himself.

Then the next people would have to bid more than the 10.00 if they wanted to bid on this dutch auction to win the items.

Example 4

Now if you have an Dutch auction like this:

10 items for sale - Starting Price 10.00

  • John bid 10.00 on all 10 items at 10:52 on 10/10/2010
  • Joe bid 10.00 on all 10 items at 10:55 on 10/10/2010

Who would get those items? Well it would be John..., why?

Being John bid first on all of the items, he would get all of the items for the 10.00 each his bid price and Joe would get none of the items.

Example 5

Now to raise your bid. You will have to have the same amount of items for more money or else have less amount of items for the more money than your first amount.

  • You wanted 10 items and your bid was 5.00 -- the total of your amount you wanted to pay was 50.00.
  • Now you want to up your bid.
  • So you have a choice to either get less items which would have to be total more than the 50.00.
  • Or you can keep the same amount of items and just bid higher than the 50.00.

When you up your amount of items or rebid higher on an item this overwrites what you did bid on, so this will show up as only 1 bid by you.

I collect Cherished Teddies and other bears, I have about 1370 Cherished Teddies, the last time I counted them, and I have 825 other bears in my collection these are made from anything from cheap plastic .10 bears to just about any kind of material, that bears are made of. Here are just a few of my favorites...

"Baby Boys 1st Christmas"

"Customer Appreciation"

"Stormi"

"Nativity Musical"

Look... Did you know??? We now have a 'Bears Board'.
Click on me to go to that board.
(See sometimes the begging and pleading for a few years
does pay off :)

I started looking at eBay in November of 1996 and started bidding (Yes at that time, you did not have to be a registered person to bid or sell on here), I became a Registered user on Jan. 29th 1997. Ever since then I have found a wonderful place to buy, sell and make friends on eBay. I fell into the Cafe by accident one day on Janurary 29th of 1997 with a problem, and I have never left. I have made so many friends in the Cafe, and all I wanted to do was play forever in the Cafe and sell my Cherished Teddies. Soon I found that I was spending a lot of time on line in the Cafe, and making friends, my house work kinda suffered just a little :) But I was having fun. I also made a few short cuts to cleaning...

Use a Leaf Blower to clean the floors and from under furniture you can not get under.
Use some lysol around to make it smell clean.
Hide things in a box, one day you will be able to get to that box.
Your hubby will come home and say my you have been cleaning all day, but actually you will be playing all day.
I also found how to clean a clogged drain, Take a garden hose with sprayer into your house, and spray into the tub or drain, or toilet. This will clean out the clog in a few minutes.

I then found.....

The "Q & A Board for User to User Information"

The "AOL Cafe"

The "Discuss Newest Features Board"

The "Trading Cards Board"

The "Beanie Board"

...and I started to talk and help on those boards too. Ebay has other boards that I visit once in a while.

I finally decided to make a page that could help people learn where to find and how to do HTML to make their listings look better, sell better, and so I got all that I knew together and put it in a page with links to other peoples pages. "Cherbear's Helpers Page". These people are also on eBay. On the page it also has where to find those little gifs and things you may see sometimes on the boards. I also post this on the AOL cafe being some people can't access the page I have. For some reason people can't access this page if they have the Explorer Netscape.

I found these Scrap books from....

"The Regular Cafe's Scrap Book"

"The AOL Cafe Scrap Book"

This will tell you a little about the 'Cherished Teddies' I buy and sell on eBay:

Cherished teddies are made mainly of a 'Resin' material.

They first came out in the winter of 1991. Each piece has a name and a Inspiration on the bottom of the cherished Teddies.

Here is an example of one of the Cherished Teddies: Jennifer, "Gathering The Blossoms Of Friendship" she could have a 4CO/123 on her bottom as a Registration number, being her first mark was in the year of 1994.

When the cherished teddies first came out, they only had a Letter Mark on the bottom of them... Example : Beth she could have a CO1/234 on her bottom, being she was made in either 1991 in the winter, or, 1992 . It wasn't until the spring of 1993 that they started to put the year that they were made on the bottom of the piece.

Cherished Teddies can be retired, suspended, limited, dated, or, out of production. When this happens, this will bring up the value of the cherished teddies. Each year they bring out a whole bunch of new bears, and new collection categories, such as; Valentine, Halloween, Christmas, General, St. Patrick, and so on.
