Well I thought I'd done this but....here it is again, updated. The passion for collecting and recycling items has ebbed and flowed in my life. My 'work life' was teaching (classrooms, subbing, tutoring), family service work for people with disabilities and service coordination for people with mental illness. In all of those capacities, I used my love of art to be creative and do all kinds of projects. My artwork takes many forms and never the same one for very long. Ebay taps into all my talents...writing, photographs, communicating...without all the woes of human service which I quit after 30+ years (June '07) to start selling. I got hooked by an $.50 bottle that went for $410.
I have a BA in Elementary Ed./Art (many more credits in art) and an MFA in illustration. I visited the Keator Opera Building in Homer, NY about 4 years ago (30 years in Homer and I hadn't seen it!). There were several rooms of antiques on the second floor and a small ticket booth decorated by writing on the wall; signatures, titles, dates, $, numbers of people from the mid 1800's until the early 1900's. Upstairs on the 3rd floor is the largest opera hall in central NY in the mid 1800's. Sam Clemmens (Mark Twain) was up there, our local famous artist Francis Carpenter's 'Emancipation Proclamation' painting was shown up there before going to Washington DC and there were many plays and other activities until it closed in the early 1900's. Now it's just our ghost and lots of different kinds of dirt and dust and I LOVE IT. I decorate the second floor walls with pictures and stories of local colorful and/or famous characters and opera house history. I also have an ebay 'area' and a booth (there are about 18 vendors) where I recycle items from my house, various auctions and yardsales. Come visit sometime. The ghost is definely friendly and so are we (most of the time!)
