Planar 85/1.4 (autofocus) mounted on EOS body
| In the past, converting a lens from one lens mount to another meant losing autofocus and having to use stopped-down metering. To take each picture you would set the aperture ring to wide open, focus manually, set the aperture ring to the aperture you wanted, meter, and take the picture. Stopped-down metering slowed down the picture-taking process and limited the application to landscape and still life. |
| On August 18, 2006, conurus(TM) changed the situation by shipping the world's first independent lens mount conversion which preserved autofocus and automatic aperture. Now, you can convert Carl Zeiss autofocus lenses in Contax N-mount to Canon EOS mount. Contax N-mount users may leverage their existing lens investments while upgrading to the latest DSLR camera bodies. After the conversion, autofocus is faster than on a Contax N body, but not as fast as a similar Canon lens. |
