The point of this ME page is, I gather,  to let potential buyers know who you are and how you operate. So, the following is not self-indulgence, but educative blather !  Mature, but young-at-heart, I believe EM>Rock & Roll Will Never Die but I will, so I continue both buying & selling, simultaneously upgrading & thinning the collection.

A Baby Boomer raised on Buddy Holly & Elvis, I was named Cat way before Stevens. Musically, I was turned on by Dylan and the Beatles, electrified by Dick Dale & the Stones, and expanded by The Doors & Zep. At 14, I grew some Beatle hair, picked up the guitar, learned 3 chord R&R, and  never looked back. Later in life, after 3 great guitar teachers, [Joey, Marco & Waz, U know who U R], I learned to really play, started writing songs and playing with bands and solo, and began collecting guitars and equipment.

In my 40 I got a little obsessive about it, developing GAS Guitar Acquisition Syndrome, a dreaded collection jones which requires More & Better. Mainly, I bought electric & acoustic guitars & basses, and amps, but also drums, P.A., Afro-Cuban rhythm instruments, recording gear, and lots of electronic tuff

Before eBay, I traded or sold a few items here & there to friends or via classified ads, but it was always a little hobby. 3 years ago, I started on eBay, buying vintage or specialized gear, and the GAS required selling off some guitars in order to upgrade the collection, which is where I at now still a hobby..... just a heated-up one, and one at which I'm still having fun.

In GAS,  the pleasure is in the pursuit, in other words .... EM>I still haven't found what I'm looking for  For example, I keep buying acoustic-electrics, hoping Il finally find something I totally happy with, while my electric collection, while by no means as complete as it could be, gives me great delight.  But, I have finally learned that the hunt is the challenging part, and like many things in life,  the chase is more fun than the capture. Often, after obtaining a long-desired piece, it's lost its luster.  Or maybe perfection is in the mind. Or something......

Having started with Guilds [which are still my favorite guitars], I now have a stash of Gibsons, Fenders, Taylors, & the aforementioned Guilds, plus Gretsches, Parkers, Danelectros, HarmonyKays, and the oddball Japanese Monsters, NoNames, Handbuilts & other "Bizarre" Guitars [which was going to be my online name; alas, it was taken].  At any rate, this eBay trading has really turned into a most enjoyable pastime, and so far, Ie only been burned twice.

I find on-line guitar people to be generally straight-up shooters; my style is to be scrupulously honest; I expect the same, and that usually works in this medium.  I continue to find some good pieces, and even tho it's not like the good ole days, I still run across interesting instruments.  So .... I continue to learn, and write, and play, and I get to use music - music therapy, that is - in my profession as a psychotherapist. So, to all you other guitar enthusists: keep looking, have fun, and see you on line !  

BTW, there is more to life than guitars. Since I've gotten to know the system and its tricks, I am enjoying helping a friend start her antique sales on eBay.  So look for "RAIN" - Renaissance Antiques Inter Net.
