I am an antique collector for more than 10 years and a part-time master student in a prestigious university. I sell in ebay to have an additional income, mainly for my education and for sustaining my hobby. I collect a variety of things such as old coins & paper money, vintage postcards, covers & cover letters, stamps, vintage books & magazines, Chinese and Japanese ceramics & other Asian works of art, American & European ceramics, old glass & bottles, vintage jewelry & gemstones, antique metal/silver wares, vintage scarves & hanky's, vintage clothing and others. Young as I was, I was already fascinated by antiques. I find pleasure every time I see an interesting artifact, and I always have an urge to keep them. There is something in them that captivates my heart.

I believe that there are advantages of being an antique collector. First, you have an interesting hobby, wherein you can learn history and art. Second, you have an investment that you can use in the future in case of emergency. The value of antique collectibles are growing every year, and for me keeping them is just like keeping a piece of land. I actually treated them as the smaller version of real estates. I really encourage the younger generation to learn how to appreciate and keep old things, whether they are inheritance or not. They could be your lifetime treasure!
