Here at Black Hill Farm we specialize in Game Birds. We have on site, California Quail, Gambel's Quail, Grey Chukar, and White Chukar Partridge. Breeding season usually starts in March and can go into October for the Chukars. The Cali's and Gambel's give out in August. Here in sunny North Florida we are fortunate to have a long laying season, which is good because we can offer more eggs! Our eggs are gathered fresh several times a day to prevent damage from the birds and extreme weather conditions.
I must admit, we baby our birds! They get lots of treats! This is an advantage for you! Our birds are used to us being around, this interaction takes the spookiness away. A calm and stress free bird will lay more fertile eggs! Those that purchase our eggs appreciate a good hatch rate! We test fertility on a regular schedule. This is done by setting a few eggs in an incubator several times a week. By candling, we can see developement or discover fertility issues before they become a problem.
No colony breeding here! We house our birds in large pens so they get plenty of exercise and breeding room. Some of our birds are housed together during the winter, but divided up prior to breeding season.
Our Cali's are in pairs. The Gambel's are either in pairs, trio's or quads. Most of the Grey and White Chukars are in trio's. This formula has provided us the best results, and our hatch rate is always good!
Our orders for Quail and Chukar eggs are normally shipped Priority Mail on Monday or Tuesday. This prevents your time sensitive eggs from sitting in the Post Office over the weekend.

We use innovative packing methods to prevent breakage during shipping. Very few have ever reported breakage from us. We want you to get your eggs without any damage! Our packages are clearly marked "Fragile-Outside-Mail". This postal regulation ensures that your eggs are treated better than the regular package.
