These days my eBay activity is in two main areas: selling books and other book-oriented collectibles, and buying and selling Hermés scarves and similar items.
To the fans of my novels and other works, welcome! Have fun in the bookstore. It's still in the very early stages of its development, so I hope you'll be patient with me while I kick it into shape.
As regards the Hermés end of things... I bought my first Hermés scarf more than twenty years ago, not long after I sold my first novel. I'm pretty sure it was either in Saks Fifth Avenue or Bergdorf Goodman in New York that I walked past an accessories counter and saw a beautiful tiger face peering up at me with one eye from underneath another folded scarf, inside a glass case. That was it -- I was hooked.
Since then I've been acquiring Hermés scarves and shawls, on and off, as a hobby. They are the quintessential accessory for the self-employed woman, a great way to let your business connections know you're doing just fine, thanks. And they're beautiful in their own right -- genuine works of art. Their value as collectibles didn't dawn on me until I registered with eBay in 1998 and saw how much other people valued them, too.

I acquired my first eBay-sourced Hermés scarf in 2000, and have only once been disappointed (I guess we're all likely to run into a counterfeit sooner or later, and this one wasn't even a good one: in hindsight, I'm embarrassed I fell for it). Mostly I've been wonderfully impressed by the friendliness and high standards of the people I've dealt with as a buyer, such as carreraycarrera, skilenn, dboone11, vplas, bethlahmy, and many others. They've given me a high standard to aspire to as a seller.
If I'm buying from you, you'll find me a prompt payer. I understand how things look from the seller's side -- so I have considerable investment in making your transaction a smooth one, as I know what it's like when a sale doesn't go smoothly for me.
If you're buying from me, on the other hand, you need to know that I want you to be satisfied with whatever I've sent you. I go to great trouble in my auction offerings to make sure that the merchandise is presented as it really is -- especially if (as is sometimes the case) the scarf or other item in question is coming to you used, from my own collection. I will always go the extra mile to make sure that the item is correctly and completely described, and that any imperfection, blemish or booboo is photographed well enough that you can see it as I see it, and be in a position to decide for yourself whether it's a problem.

In late 2007 I'm expecting to get a little more deeply into the sales end of things. I'll be making a couple of trips to Paris and New York with the intent of acquiring more brand new scarves and shawls specifically for sale to others... so if you like, please consider adding me to your "favorite seller" list so that you can check my auctions from time to time. The beginning of 2008 is going to be busy for me in my main line of business, but starting in late spring I'll be offering at least a couple of new scarves every few weeks.
Thanks for stopping by!
