My name is Deborah but I only answer to that when I'm in trouble. My friends call me Deb or Dizzi or Diz. I earned that nickname from my mother as a child, Dizzi Deb or Skinny Minny Fishtail (which doesn't apply as much anymore). I was born in St. Louis, Missouri and our family (mom, dad, two sisters and one brother) moved to St. Charles when I was four. I was a very shy, introverted child and have since more than made up for that.
I'm now 52 years ols and have had an interesting life which, thankfully, continues to get better. I liked being married so much I've done it three times now. I swear this is the last time! LOL. I have two beautiful daughters and one granddaughter and they are the most important.
I've tried a lot of different jobs. If there was a "help wanted" sign up somewhere I thought I had to try that job. I've worked in an office, been a typesetter, am a veteran from the U.S. Navy, owned a Jazzercize franchise, been a massage therapist, and a truck driver. That's just a few. I'm retired now due to health a few bothersome health problems, but I'm not letting that slow me down.
I sold a dog trailer on e-bay for my husband (the current one) a while back and found it was so much fun. After I retired I really needed something to do. I've been working since I was 12 and just can't sit still. My hobbies and friends were not enough. So I held a garage sale and afterwards I listed some of the things that didn't sell on e-bay. That was so much fun I had to keep doing it. But, where do I get all the stuff! I love glass and really wanted to specialize in vintage and antique glass.
I started my search for more stuff with yard sales and garage sales. Well, I live in a very small town so I wasn't finding enough items or the kind of items I wanted. I thought I would try some auctions. I had so much fun at my first auction! Of course I sometimes wasn't sure I had the bid and would just keep raising my hand. The auctioneer was having a very good time with me and would laugh and say "you've got it" "you already have it." I didn't catch on until he finally let me outbid myself....once. Lesson learned. Now, most of my items come from auctions and estate sales. I have met so many nice people and just have a ball.
I am learning a lot about glass and the more I buy, the pickier I get. I also pick up other items of interest to me or if I think someone else might like it. I'm not into junk so I try to only buy items that are very clean. I wash everything that I can wash when I get it home and maybe again before I ship it. I do have a smoke-free home.
I hope you find something you like on my site. I try very hard to give good customer service as I think this is more than 50% of the sale and key to keeping good customers. If there is something you need or would like for me to do, just ask. I will try to accommodate where I can and if I can't, well, the most I can say is no. I hope you enjoy my site items and my e-bay store, Georgia Vintiques and Collectibles (named for my grandmother).
