His latest ventures include not one but two new record labels. With the first label, GrassRoots Recordings, Rick has the serious intent of bringing back the original flavor of Chicago House music in its raw and truest form.

Musically there has been a void for me for many years. It has seemed nearly impossible to find driving house tracks that still had a deep rooted soulful essence,says Rick, a production veteran with over 250 projects under his belt. Therefore I felt a need to create GrassRoots: filling that void and hopefully reviving the driving force behind House Music.

Right from its first release GrassRoots brings that energy to life with Salsa Soul. This red hot floor-filler features Rick on bass, percussion, and yes, even vocals. Its latin grooves are unmistakably Rick Garcia raw like never before. Side one La Salsa is a big room stomper while side two Mi Cuba Linda is sure to be another classic with its latin percussion and beautifully hypnotic Spanish guitars.

Rick's second label is a venture close to his heart and true to his culture. Tambor Recordings is the inevitable spawn of Rick's greatest musical triumph Jungle Jazz. This project has become his most widely received and world renowned production. Even while in the midst of producing this classic, he knew that he had found his calling. It was a calling which had brought him back to his roots and had made his musical journey come full circle.

Tambor is the fusion of house with percussion, Latin jazz, and pure tribal funk. The first release is appropriately entitled a Luz(The Light). And you better believe that this track emphatically takes over where the Jungle Jazz legacy left off. Prepare yourselves; this label will emerge in the summer of 2002, just in time for Ibiza.

Spinning a perfect blend of Latin funk, gritty raw tracks, and soulful energetic vocals, Rick has no problem making dance floors go wild. "Just play the music that you love - a motto by which he has always lived. The crowd will feel it if it's true to your heart."

When he's behind the tables it is definitely a show. Rick is non-stop. From manipulating two copies of the same record, to tricks with the EQ and effects, he is a master of keeping the entire dance floor completely engaged.
