East Wind Trading provides ec-o-rganic products and fashion that are stylish and beneficial to both the individual and the globe. Our company understands the impact one individual choice has on the entire global community and seeks to offer products that create a positive impact. What do we sell? Our clothing for men, woman and children are Eco friendly, Organic, Fair trade and animal friendly. We also offer tools for inner development such as Organic Meditation cushions, Organic Yoga mats and more. But aren't organic products expensive?Right now the organic industry is growing faster than the products they sell! As the industry grows, the cost of organic products will decrease as the demands for organic materials increase. There is no value on the impact it has on the entire global community, and the result it will have on future generations. Buying organic helps to create a sustainable life for our globe and supports the local economy. Right now the biggest stores set low prices and standards of living which have devastating impacts on the community, local economy and ecosystem. These stores have many labor acts in several countries that violate human rights. This outsourcing also takes away job opportunities and enables the companies to sell the merchandise very cheap. The end result is a product that has been made without the care or interest not only for the individual buying it but for the country as well. Why buy organic?Buying organic assures you that the products will have no harmful chemicals that could negatively impact you or the lively hood of our fragile ecosystem. The millions of pounds of chemicals used on cotton for clothing are known carcinogens and cause a variety if immunity problems. Take into consideration that the skin on your body is an organism which takes in a lot of oxygen and water. The clothes you wear, the detergent you use, the cleaners you spray all impact your health. Ammonia in cleaners that cause lung damage,Formaldehyde in air fresheners, spray starch, shampoos, deodorants and many other products are carcinogenic.. that means they cause cancer!Organic products guarantee you that there are no health hazards from your clothes for your immune system to tackle. Studies have documented the health benefits of organic materials, as well as the benefit it has on the local economy. Why the local economy?Do you know that hundreds of thousands of jobs have been lost and given to overseas companies? This has lead to the depreciation of U.S. currency and has the economy facing a possible recession for 2008. Right now our dollar is at its lowest and has been lost to currencies that could never compare in the past. As of today the average American farmer receives 20 cents per dollar for their products. The majority of your merchandise dollar goes to middlemen, such as brokers, distributors, and retailers. For example; When you purchase locally produced food, a much higher return per dollar goes to the farmer. Such is the case with Farmers Markets, the farmer receives 100% of the profit for their product. When you spend money in your community, it gets spent approximately seven more times inside the community before it's finally spent outside. What is fair trade and why should I care?Fair trade is an organized social movement and market-based model of international trade which promotes the payment of a fair price as well as social and environmental standards in areas related to the production of a wide variety of goods. The movement focuses in particular on exports from developing countries to developed countries.Fair trade's strategic intent is to deliberately work with marginalized producers and workers in order to help them move from a position of vulnerability to security and economic self-sufficiency. It also aims at empowering them to become stakeholders in their own organizations and actively play a wider role in the global arena to achieve greater equity in international trade.Education is the key!By opening this shop we spread the awareness of these important issues. Beyond the thin walls which create a house there is earth and sky which everyone calls home. What each of us does individually will always have an impact on all people as long as we share this home. Knowing this is being mindful, mindfulness then acts. Freedom is the right of all who live here and if we wish to be free as individuals we must begin by first respecting the freedom and integrity of our global family. When everyone can learn to put another before him/herself, then we will always be acting in the best interest of life on this planet as a whole. If we all take care of that whole, you can be certain that others will always respect and cherish your life too. The task is not so much to see what no one has yet seen, but rather to see that which everyone sees, in a way no one has yet seen it. Who are you buying from?We know that this life is what we choose to make of it, and our individual purpose is revealed in the journey of our life. But we cannot forget that what we do is connected to everything else that lives within this system. Selflessness, kindness and conscious choices are part of our daily living. We live a raw and vegan lifestyle which allows us to consume less and produce less waste. We share what we have. We believe we all inevitably contribute somehow to the well-being of everyone else; we are all healers of one another. What is mindful living?Mindful living is bringing awareness to the clear aspect of ones inner nature. It’s learning to not judge each moment or event until we see where it leads. It’s knowing our awareness is the force which guides us to the next events in life. For example: One might be aware that the food they eat comes from companies that use harsh methods for animal farming and also uses chemicals and tools from manufacturers that harbor unfair methods of trade. It's then in this realization that the individual learns by supporting an abusive company you are being abusive. You have to walk your talk. This is a very basic way of understanding mindfulness and how conscious decisions create our next destination. The clothes we wear, the food we eat, the places we shop, the cars we drive, the internet service providers we use, one choice impacts everything else. We may never be able to do it all, and we should never judge anyone else in their attempts. The object of mindful living is never to do it all. We will never be fully aware of WHAT IS, but by learning to be mindful we can grow into a new awareness that will always expand. Just as a seed does not grow the instant it is planted into the soil, but contains all the information to become something if nurtured in the right way. We too can grow into unknown becomings, if we use the right methods of nurturing. There is not better tool for growth than selflessness, kindness and awareness.
We may not be able to change everything we see, but we can change how we see things. Once we all have changed the way the see things we cannot change, those things become what we see. – A.J.
