snapshots and quotes
from a self-admittedly eccentric artist.
“If
your everyday life seems poor, don't blame it; blame yourself;
admit to yourself that you are not poet enough to call forth its riches;
because for the creator there is no poverty and no indifferent place.”
- rainer maria rilke
GRAF-FI-TI:
noun; writing or
drawings scribbled, scratched or sprayed
illicitly on a wall or other surface
[ex.: 'Emily Cox reinvented the genre of Graffiti Artist...']
I began my life as an artist the moment I was born.
I began supporting myself as a professional, full-time painter three
years ago.
In that time, I have been selling paintings primarily on-line to an
ever-growing, international group of collectors, as well as working
on several large private commissions. My work is now collected in over
20 countries and hangs in private and corporate collections throughout
the USA. I achieved Powerseller status on ebay within a short period
of time, and relish the far-reaching exposure and opportunity that ebay's
art communities offer!
I am a completely
self-taught artist. My style is the culmination of a lifetime of artistic
exploration and is always evolving to confront new boundaries. My artworks
share a theme of abstract expressionism, whether I'm working on an abstract
nebula or the most realism-based rendering of a young woman's smile
- I like to inject what may not be initially realized. I present my
subjects in an unconventional light; whether through actual subject
matter or the layering of color, style, media, etc.
My artwork
is united by the inclusion of words, ramblings, & subconscious writing:
My own style of GRAFFITI finds its way into seemingly everything I do.
My goal is to live
every moment in the fullest experience of being an artist,
and to share that warm gratitude and awe with those who are moved by
my work.
"The aim of life is to live, and
to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware."
- henry miller
