Hi! My name is Joy and I am the proud owner of A Joyful Soul Fabrics. You may also know my store as a Women's Boutique. Well, I am a fabric addict and decided to switch gears into the fabric and sewing business. If you've read my Bio, you know I am a stay-at-home Mom. I have the smartest and most beautiful 7 year old girl and I am married to the most gorgeous, intelligent and supportive Chief in the United States Navy. My life is wonderful! Thanks to God, I have been blessed with a family that ROCKS! I have been through some life altering changes recently. Changes for the better. Being a plus-sized woman in today's society is difficult. I have struggled for so many years with my confidence. I couldn't find my voice. I was sure no one could see past the fat. What I now understand is that the person who couldn't see past the fat was me. Sure, you have people in life who don't give enough credit to people of size but they aren't worth knowing. You need to know and love yourself. Once you've done that, you've won half the battle. I love myself now and everything is falling into place. I now have the confidence to follow my dream of being a business owner and surrounding myself with the things I love!
I started A Joyful Soul at the suggestion of my husband. I really wanted to open a fabric and sewing supply store but went for my second passion, clothing! It was fun for a while but I kept going back to the fabric and really wanting to make a go of it so, here I am! A Joyful Soul Fabrics! As I have said before, I am a fabric addict. I know there are many of us out there. I picked up the sewing bug about 8 years ago when I got all domestic during my pregnancy. I wasn't very good to begin with but I have brushed up on my skills since then and I can confidently say that I am pretty good at this stuff! I love quilting, garment sewing and I love making handbags! I have some original designs that I will place for sale occasionally in my store but mostly I just fill orders for people I know. In designing my handbags, I found Amy Butler Fabrics. What can I say? For my fellow Amy Butler fanatics, you understand! Her fabrics are, in a word, perfect! They are beautiful, original and inspiring! My goal is to be a one-stop-shop for all things Amy Butler. I hope to expand and carry more of my favorite designers but I am all about baby steps!
