Chocolate Covered Cherries

I've been telling my husband for years that when I retire my dream is to have my own yarnshop. He finally told me not to wait, get started now by selling on eBay. So we tried a few auctions with his account. When things went well, I started my own account and here we are. I've started with handpainted spinning fiber, but hope to offer both handspun and commercial yarns in the near future.

My website has started coming together. I hope to make it as close to an online version of my favorite LYS, with interaction between by guests and regulars. I have made a start by getting the text of some of my spinning tips up. Now I just need to get my husband to take the pictures while I spin...

The online store has also started to take shape. The bamboo is up, more wool is in the dyepots and the spinning wheel has been busy, so hand spun yarns are coming soon.

An introduction to dying

Just to show you some of what I get up to in my free time. This second picture is from the recent workshop for the Dallas Handweaver's and Spinners guild that I hosted at my house. What a wonderful array of colors. We used the color chips to choose our color selections and then matched the dyes to our choices.

Most of the Sheep to Shawl group from the guild were present at the meeting and we were definitely inspired by the colors we played with. Our shawl the next week at the Kid-N-Ewe and Lamas Too was a deep teal with gold and metallic highlights.
