Frances Perea's Santos, Folk Art, Mixed Media and Unique Stuff!

WELCOME! Thank you for your interest in my art, objects d'art and fabulous junk. I create New Mexico Santos(Saints), Folk Art & Mixed Media works. Much of the raw material for my mixed media pieces comes from flea markets, thrift shops & junk boutiques. I am constantly on the hunt for that just right item or items to start or complete a collage or assemblage. On a more serious note, I am also a traditional Santera artist(a maker of religious icons), with roots in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the mecca for Santeros and Santeras. I am greatly influenced by primitive folk art, outsider art which incorporates recycled material, and the arts of Latin America. Frida Kahlo, and New Mexico artists Marjo Hebert, Melissa Poole, Archie Perea and Nick Herrera are among my most favorite artists. You can view my art portfolio at www.ArtWanted.com/dimestorediva. |

Beautiful Rural Tennessee Though my roots are in New Mexico, I presently live in beautiful rural Tennessee with my husband and our mellow cat Gata. We are surrounded by lovely woods, in which live busy squirrels, deer, turtles, colorful birds, rabbits, and a variety of other critters. |
