WELCOME TO "MONICAS INCA TREASURES"
An online Gallery of Fair Trade Handcrafts from Peru!!!

Monicas Inca Treasures is run by PERU ART AUSTRALIA (ABN 33727452080)
Who are we:
My name is Monica and I am from Peru. My husband Scott is Australian but he’s Peruvian at heart. We travel to the Andes to Peru for business and pleasure.
We love to visit all our artisan friends to strengthen our business and friendship relationships. And of course we also love to see all the family and see my nieces and nephews grow up. We love to travel off the beaten track in Peru and we are looking forward to live in the andean town of Chincheros in Cusco sometime in the future.
I have been selling on ebay since April 2004, it started as a hobby and it has become since then a full time job that I really enjoy and can combine with my uni studies. I am studying Social and Cultural Anthropology at Macquarie University in Sydney.
My business works closely with several aid to artisans groups: Proyecto PRA (Ayacucho Poverty Alleviation) in Ayacucho, AID TO ARTISANS (Cusco, Peru) and the PARUBAMBA WEAVERS ASSOCIATION (Cusco, Peru). Plus we buy all our handcrafts direct from the artisans and pay fully in advanced.
Buying and selling handcrafts is a "craft" itself. I have learnt to differenciate good quality from bad in all my handcrafts. Now I can even see a photo on the internet and sometimes I know if the item is a genuine gemstone or a fake, a natural dyed rug or an atificial dyed one, a rug made of sheep wool or made from synthetics, handwoven or machine made, genuine baby alpaca or fake.

Our mission:
Bring beautiful and A1 quality handcrafts from Peru, a country inmensely rich in lovely andean towns, archaelogical ruins, ancient history and friendly people.
Give our customers great high quality service.
Provide new markets and business and build lasting relationships for the remote families of Peruvian artisans. Please see our 'Helping the artist" page.
Promote the Central Highlands of Peru as a great place for your next holiday.
Our plans for the future:
Expand our range of products.
Keep making contact with more remote families of artisans and help them find new sales channels.
Bring to the open market place the works of some of Peru's finest and most gifted AWARD WINNING ARTISTS who are virtually unknown in their own country.
Guided tours of the highlands and its craftspeople for small groups interested in arts & crafts staying with my weavers to learn the art of weaving.
You can find out more about my "Handcraft Guided Tours" in my eBay page by the same name.
