How I got started in GlassBeadMaking
I was at a bead show one day looking for jewelry findings and beads. There was a demonstrator showing the procedure for making copper enamel Beads.
She showed me how to make a couple of them and I was so impressed that I got started right away. All I needed was a powdered glass from Thompson Enamel, and a propane torch. No annealing was necessary so I decided to make enamel beads, and for a couple years I did.
I have always loved making Jewelry, except I was buying my beads from suppliers (you know those imported ones). I discovered Lampwork Bead making when I was searching the Web and after seeing beautiful beads, I just had to lean how to make them.
So.... by now you have figured it out... I took that class too *grin*. I have been everything from a QA Inspector for electronics and plastics and even health care giving and a cook for nursing homes. I have worked in a bakery and loved cake decorrating, but never have I loved any thing as much as torch work.
I knew I had to do something to contribute to the house hold income, so sitting on a stool making beautiful beads is a real treat to me and I love it. I have always had a great love for making jewelry until I discovered bead making.
Now I have another great passion for making beads and would love sharing them with all of you out there. Some times when sitting at the torch I wonder how I come up the creations that I do. I think it brings out my imagination.
I also find myself laying a wake at night with ideas going through my head about how my next creation will be. I took my first Class for beginner bead making at Mandarin Stained Glass Center In Lakewood Washington. After that I have been self taught. I want to thank my instructor: Orpha Piserchio for all her hard and much appreciated work. I also want to thank Cindy Jenkins for the great reference and teaching techniques for glass bead making.
My main reason for this web site is to promote my Lampwork beads. I have been creating my own Lampwork beads for about 4yrs now and continually learn new techniques. I had a sick spell for bit from (BC) but am much better now. I still love making gorgeous hand made jewelry out of the beads that I create. So, you may see much more then you expected on my Web Site.
I use mostly Moretti Italian and Bulleseye glass, Dichroic, Silver foil. Thanks and enjoy your visit!
All Beads have been properly annealed in a digitally controlled kiln.
