The handsome regal-looking man who portrayed the Governor on TV's longest running cop show, "Hawaii Five-O" was the late actor, Richard Denning. Most who "say" they are fans of the show insist that the Governor's real name is Philip Grey. This is WRONG!!! Richard Denning, prior to assuming the role of the Governor (originally played by Lew Ayers in the pilot movie "Cocoon"), guest-starred on "Hawaii Five-O" in episode #5: The 24 Karat Kill as Treasury Agent, Philip Grey. It wasn't until much LATER in the show's run an episode aired called "A Capital Crime" where the Governor was called by name, PAUL JAMESON, to assist an elderly man (Barnard Hughes) to save his rooming house that was set to be demolished. Most often the Governor is referred to as just "Governor," with the exception of Millicent Shan who affectionately called him SONNY in the episode called "Frozen Assets." I know I'm not an absolutely authority on "Hawaii Five-O," but I do know my Governor! :-)
