Recent Research
hdmi 1.2 – Current Standard (1.2 is 74.5 MHz )
hdmi 1.3 – NEW STANDARD - Available with expanded capability single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps)
Although all previous versions of HDMI have had more than enough bandwidth to support all current HDTV formats, including full, uncompressed 1080p signals, HDMI 1.3 increases its single-link bandwidth to 340 MHz (10.2 Gbps) (1.2 is 74.5 MHz ) to support the demands of future HD display devices, such as higher resolutions, Deep Color and high frame rates. In addition, built into the HDMI 1.3 specification is the technical foundation that will let future versions of HDMI reach significantly higher speeds.

recent email exchange:
what does it mean when referring to HDMI.................(switching only)?
HDMI is a cable connection type. the newest generation of Audio video connection. here is what it says in the HD glossary:
HDMI (High Definition MultiMedia Interface)
HDMI assures that the best video signal is always sent from source (e.g., HDTV signal) to the display (e.g., plasma television). It does this by allowing uncompressed video and multi-channel audio data to be input to the display device through one single cable. The need for multiple analog connections for high-resolution audio and video are eliminated. Without an HDMI connection one would need 3 video connections for high definition video and 6 audio connections for high-resolution audio.
'Switching only' refers to the passive throughput of the signal, switching between 2 HDMI sources as opposed to what is called 'Upscaling'... upscaling is taking a lower grade signal, and processing it into an HD signal. This process is only available on high end equipment that costs considerably more than this unit.

Shipping Instructions
I do have some experience shipping to APO addresses. I understand that I would be shipping to a U.S. address, and the U.S. government (military?) completes the remainder of the shipping process at no additional cost.
I would be willing to ship the
Harman Kardon HK AVR 340 7.1 Home Theater Receiver
to you at your APO address under the following conditions:
1) Please supply full shipping contact information including telephone number for export documents.
2) Please insure purchase for full value at actual USPS pricing.
3) There is a $7.00 document handling fee for international shipping document handling. I will waive this $7.00 fee if you are in any branch of the military.
4) PayPal payment and confirmed address you already spoke of.
Either as winning bidder or Buy It Now, I will send an invoice that includes the above mentioned costs to you upon your purchase of this item.
If you are in military service to our nation thank you for your dedication and commitment to our country. It would be an honor to help you in any way that I can.
Sincerely,
Douglas Peterson

Answer Re: 67 $ cine converter
Richard,
I have not used this unit myself. I bought it for ebay resale.
Realistically, none of the home use converters are going to give you the image clarity of a true telecine transfer chain. If you have a few reels of film to do, send them out to a service.
If you have a lot of fim to deal with, or want contol of the editing process, the Vivitar telecine is as good... or better than most.
Since it uses 4) 1.5 volt batteries as a power source, this would tell me it uses a 6 volt 'wall wart' type power supply... or 4 D batteries. The power supply is only needed when doing still photographs. Film or slides are projected images supplying there own 'light'.
All the Best,
