Hi! This is Holly from ARTISANS JEWELS.
I know how important this "about me" page is. And, I also know it will take me a very long time to think about and accumulate all the vital and necessary information to include in "my story."
I also know, that you know, I am a NEW eBay seller.
And, I am so very, very anxious to try to be successfull as a seller. Right now, I simply can't devote the amount of time it would take for me to write a thorough, interesting and hopefully, intriguing "about me" page.
I simply want to jump right in and submit a few listings! I think about it, day and night. You know, just to "get my hands wet" or is it "my feet?" And, see, what it really feels like to actually sell something.
So, that's my excuse for not completing this page at the present time. Hopefully, you'll understand and will want to return at a later time to read this page. And, if you were interested in 1 of my listings, hopefully, this unfinished page won't prevent you from still being interested. I really will finish it!
Actually, I did write a tiny bit of it - a real, real tiny bit. But, that's it for now!
__________________________________________________________
So, I've told you my name. That's a start. I'll give you the condensed version until I have more time.
One important personal thing about me is that my best friend is my 3 and 1/2 ounce Conure Parrot, whose name is "Kiwi", but he or she actually only goes by the name "Bird." I will add pictures of "it" (who knows if it, is a boy or girl), but that will come later, also. And, maybe you aren't even interested; but, it is the "coolest," neatest, most special pet, anyone could ever have. When I am at home, my birdy is never in the cage, my sweet, little thing lives on my shoulder, day and night, except for when it's feeding time. That is, his feeding time, not mine... then, he eats my food.
My story and how I got to where I am today:
Actually, before I started to try selling on eBay, way back in the 70's, I received a Master's degree in Computer Science. Some, and only probably a few, will remember the old days in Computer Science, when a computer that fits on your lap, in the comfort of your own home, used to fit in a building, the size of a huge department store; and, the way a person would program the computer was with about a thousand of individual cards, called keypunch cards! If one dropped the deck, and the cards got out of sequence, that poor soul was in a rather large predicament, because the deck would have to be rearranged and put back in the proper sequence. After, I got out of college, I was a computer programmer for 10 years. And, I hated, truly disliked my work. Going to college and learning about something new, can be extremely fascinating, but actually doing it, every single day, was a different story. It really wasn't my niche in life; but, I didn't know what "I ever wanted to be, when I grew up!" I actually, had about 10 different majors in college "trying to find my niche." And, obviously, I never did.
In fact, everyone who knew me was in shock to learn of my profession. Probably because my true passion is art, design, archictecture, photography, stained glass and even designing and making jewelry. Also, I am the epitome of a "people person," - I am extremely extraverted, gregarious, make friends in the grocery store, talk to everyone wherever I go. People continually tell me I am highly charasmatic, and 1 friend claims, "I could even make a statue talk!"
So, and I hope you aren't so bored, that you wish I never wrote this... After 10 years of programming, I quit work and stayed home to raise 3 children. I probably would have still worked, but I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, so it was easier to simply not work.
So, now my kids are grown, I am divorced after 26 years, and it's necessary I get back into the "real world" because I need a means to support myself.
That's what brings me to eBay and my story will soon be relevant as to the reason why you would be at all interested in reading my "about me" page.
Sorry, but I can't write anymore! I have to get back to working on my listings. I really need to focus on generating an income, so I don't become a bag lady. I will finish this page. Please, I would greatly appreciate it, if you would come back some time to read it!
I did write 1 more thing:
THE WAY I OBTAIN MY ITEMS AT PHENOMENAL PRICES!! - My listings imply that I get excellent deals on the merchandise that I sell to others on eBay. So, I thought I would explain, the way in which I get those deals.
Actually, I have extremely expensive taste, who doesn't? But, I will be selling more reasonably priced merchandise, so anyone can afford to indulge a little! Of course, the higher the priced item, maybe the bigger the stone, etc., and, yes, it costs thousands of dollars more, but I can still sell pieces that are very beautiful at excellent prices. The reason I get such phenomenal deals is basically because I AM RELENTLESS!!!!!! My friends even call me, "ON-SALE HOLLY", because if it's NOT ON SALE, I WON"T buy it! The only way I shop, is, (besides prefering "high-end" stores), to ONLY, and I mean, REALLY - ONLY, BUY items that are REDUCED AT LEAST 80%! I have NEVER paid full-price for anything!!! If one waits long enough, eventually, IN ESSENCE, EVERYTHING GETS DRASTICALLY REDUCED. I also, LOVE SHOPPING this way, because I feel like I've won; the store didn't rip me off, and it's such an amazing THRILL to get a $300 designer handbag for $39. So, you can be sure, at my site, you'll be getting excellent prices and very fine merchandise!! The way I shop is to search, INDEFINITELY, and almost INFINITELY, if I have to, to FIND that AMAZING, UNBELIEVABLE DEAL, OR ELSE I WON'T BUY IT. And if it is not REDUCED ENOUGH, I continue to SEARCH and SEARCH and WAIT and WAIT and RETURN TO THE SAME STORES, where I feel "IN LOVE WITH SOMETHING", in the hopes that, ONE DAY, it will finally be REDUCED ENOUGH, to the point, when I can BUY IT!! I have discovered, that with enough time and infinite patience, that the REWARDS can be SO AMAZING, they actually warrant the INCREDIBLY, TIME-CONSUMING HASSLE involved.
Oringinally, I had to pick a name for my store. That was a nightmare! I had an extraordinarilly difficult, and pain-staking time selecting the perfect name, because after at least millions and millions of sellers already on eBay, all the "good" names were taken. So, the end result was the name "ARTISANS JEWLES." I rationalized that the name could mean I sell jewelry and also use the name jewels as in its other meaning, treasures. You see, I sell handcrafted, artistic jewelry, but I want some flexibility to be able to sell other handcrafted treasures, that I may find along the way.
Actually, I changed the name and my seller id a few times, because originally I was only selling gold jewelry, and it wasn't handcrafted. I knew, or I wanted to feel, particulary excited and joyous about the products I sell. Don't get me wrong, I am in thoroughly in love with gold jewelry, but the handcrafted pieces are exhorbitantly priced. And, I am unable to afford the inventory. So, I changed my so-called "niche" and in addition to still selling a few pieces of gold jewelry; I primarily, sell unique, handcrafted, extremely artistic "925" sterling silver jewelry crafted by individual artisans from around the globe and also, occasionally, some small handcrafted delights.
This is exceedingly "more my style" and I" feel right at home" selling this type of jewelry because I like to think of myself as an artist. And, because I am an artist, I think I have some talent in that area to select handcrafted, artistic items. Also, I have taken art classes since I was a little rugrat, starting at the age of 5 years old. My mother insisted; and fortunately, I had an inherent predilection towards creating art and I loved doing it. Since then, I have been taking art classes my entire life, even some at a prestigious art college. I truthfully don't know why I didn't select art for my major in college. After writing all these boring facts, I'll get to my point; I actually do have a point. It is to inform you, that I believe I have an excellent ability to select handcrafted jewelry. It must be truly beautiful, strikingly stunning and especially, eye-catching to those who one may come in contact with. A particular jewelry piece should be an "attention getter" and if I've done my job to perfection (unfortunately, I am a perfectionist --- it can be very invasive in one's life and takes forever to accomplish things because nothing is ever good enough) the piece should receive numerous compliments. Just send them my way!
So, essentially, in a tiny nutshell you have my story about what it actually is that I sell on eBay and why. I hoped you enjoyed reading it, maybe even from beginning to end, and I would LOVE and GREATLY APPRECIATE it, if you would stop by and visit my store. You would "make my day!" And, I really need that. It's sooooo difficult first starting out as an eBay seller. People simply refuse to buy something from a seller with less than 1000 feedback and usually they want a feedback score of 99% or above. Who's the perfectionist, now?
Well, that's all I wrote! Please return soon... hopefully, I will have it finished by then!
However, for now, as they say... "Happy Bidding!" and Thanks...
Oh, and of course, I can't forget to follow in the eBay tradition, and remind you of my User ID, by saying - "Thanks for stopping by. Please, come back and visit me -
my store name is ARTISANS JEWELS my Seller ID is... HOLLSPOT
but, my name is Holly."
