Nine years ago Stephen & Vera Skorupski / Skor, followed a longtime dream to live on the Hopi Indian Reservation. After retiring a CEO of a major New England financial institution Stephen accepted a position as executive director of Hopi Credit Association. But his greatest joy is being the reservations Santa Claus. Being an overweight white haired man he is the perfect Santa. Because they have been collectors of Native American art for over 35 years, they have become friends with artists from many Southwestern Reservations. They found that the only way that they were able to continue purchasing art was to sell some on Ebay. We encourage you to visit Indian Country and meet the artists in person.
The Miracle On The Hopi Indian Reservation


As many of our Ebay friend know Stephen has the joy of serving as the Hopi Tribes Santa Claus.
Years ago he realized that most Hopi Children do not ask for gifts for Christmas.
The unemployment rate on reservation is over 60%, making Christmas toys a luxury that many families are not able to provide. Five years ago we asked our Ebay friends to help Santa provide toys and books for the Hopi children.
The response was nothing short of a miracle.
For twelve months gifts were mailed to Hopi Santa from all over the world.
Hamden Middle School in Connecticut had a toy drive and also provided gifts for the Hopi Elders.
This year approximately 800 toys and books were distributed.
Each child had the joy of choosing a book and toy.
We were also blessed with the assistance of two of the greatest elves imaginable.
Clay and Judi are friends that we met via Ebay. They traveled to Hopi from Mesquite, Nevada with a truckload of toys and assisted Santa with the distribution.
I have created a web page with photos of this year’s program and information about the Hopi Christmas Angles Program.
We will be continuing the program for Christmas 2005 and will need even more help.
Please remember the Hopi Indian children during the after Christmas sales.
