Who is Jason Cannon?
I am a fine artist and graphic designer currently living and working on the northern edge of Appalachia in rural Tuscarawas County, Ohio. My artwork is in private collections all across the United States. My graphic design work has appeared in national publications such as the Mensa Bulletin, Angels on Earth magazine, and Integra, the Journal of Intertel.
What's for sale?
While still offering the occasional collectible and 'non-art' item on eBay, I present my artwork as my primary eBay offering. Having traveled to and participated in a great number of art shows and festivals, I've come to abhor the time I spend traveling to and from these shows, setting up, tearing down, etc. I enjoy the shows themselves, and the people I meet are great... but all that 'lost time' takes its toll on my art. I have less and less time to actually create art. I feel that I can better market my work through eBay and actually gain more
time to pursue my art.
The art offered here will all be my original work. Limited Edition and Open Edition prints will be
complemented by many original pieces.
I refuse to claim a particular style for my work.
It ranges from realistic portraiture and wildlife art, to optical
illusion and impossible object renderings, to expressive
landscape and scene paintings, to folk art and whimsical pictures.
However, despite my aversion to claiming a single style, I have developed a signature method: the Visual Essay. A Visual Essay is a
portrait, scene, or other artwork comprised entirely of words. These
pictures are usually lettered with India ink and/or watercolor and can
contain hundreds or even thousands of words. The lettering is often very
delicate and tiny, perhaps measuring a scant 1/32" tall. Airbrushed watercolors, colored
pencil, chalk, and pastel are all used after the lettering to add vibrant
color to the piece.
