James Maynard

James Maynard has a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and physics, with a minor in history, from Keene State College in New Hampshire.
"The Light of Alexandria" is a life-long goal for the author. Ever since first becoming enamored with the Library of Alexandria from the Carl Sagan series osmos,James Maynard has longed to write an entire book on the subject and how the lives of the scientists involved were shaped by and helped to shape, the world around them.
For three years, Maynard wrote tarWatch,a weekly newspaper column on astronomy, which was published in New Hampshire and Vermont. He also taught the astronomy study sessions as a student instructor at Keene State College for three semesters and has guest lectured in classrooms and at various events throughout New England. |

In the beginning of 2005, Maynard edited the second edition of henomenal Physicsby Dr. Russell Harkay, his former faculty advisor. This work, nearly four hundred pages long, is an inquiry-based approach to physics, governing aspects of the science from kinematics to quantum theory, with simple do-it-yourself experiments and over one hundred diagrams. Several notable colleges have adopted or are currently considering adopting the work for use in their introductory physics courses.
Currently, Maynard runs his own business, providing web design and author services, along with educational support throughout the state of New Hampshire and beyond.
