HELLO!
I always wondered how my father and mother would fit into my life as an adult...well, I'm begining to find out and I'm happy to share with you.
James O. Farley, my father: Gillian N. Farley, my mother
All my life, dad was an artist--self employed, always working on something, and always trying to include me. I was his only child, a little girl, whom he wished dearly was a boy. I learned to do everything from welding to drafting and hoisted heavy things with him too. My father had a burning desire to share his perspectives and knowledge with everyone--through his art. He produced many pieces, in many mediums and styles (including kinetics), which were placed in private homes and in public areas across the U.S., mostly here in Arizona.
I am now grown up, and dad passed away in 1993, and I have found that he has left me a few pieces to enjoy as well as to assist in financially comforting my family (I hope) by selling those I do not wish to keep.
My mother was a fashion designer of sports clothing here in AZ. Some of her fashions were also marketed in Albequerque NM and in Maine and Boston. I used to be one of her models from the time I was born until I was 16. She and I were always like sisters--in fact, we often heard that from perfect strangers. Even through her 11 year battle with Breast Cancer, she kept a great sense of humor and loved to do crafts with me and my daughter. Her last few months were so difficult on her and our family; I am absolutely certain that she is in a better place now.
I will be auctioning Dad's pieces, along with some of my own belongings,in order to bring some relief to our family--we've had such a bad few years that we're lucky to still have a roof over our head.
Anyway, this is where I want to say, "Thank you Dad. Thank you Mom. We Love you and miss you BOTH daily."
Hope you enjoy Dad's work as much as I have all my life. And some of my mother's collections will also appear here on ebay as I get to parting with things I don't Really need. (I am a minimalist faced with the residual of 2 generations of materialists and a lot of sentimentality.)
