A Warm Welcome from Madaboutmonsters Hi there I'm Madaboutmonsters. I live in West Yorkshire in sunny old England. I've been collecting tv and film related toys and collectibles since 1990. Really I've been collecting all my life I reckon, as I have managed to keep a few precious items from those wonderful care-free and sun-kissed days of childhood and teenage. How It All Began I started to collect seriously after stumbling across a die - cast Spectrum Persuit Vehicle (SPV) in a Wakefield junk shop. It was like a lighting strike - suddenly I remembered loads of great toys and stuff I had when I was a kid - Jonny Seven, Outerspacemen, Wall-walkers, Creepy and eerie comics, Matt Mason and the fabulous Captain Lazer! Where had they all gone? If I could find the SPV then maybe I could find some more! Twelve years later I am still looking and learning, but I have managed to locate some more old friends. Toy fairs or Swapmeets were a revelation as was Model and Collectors Mart magazine. They both helped me no end. Over the last few years Ebay has been a boon, allowing me to sell surplus items and bid for those elusive omissions from my collection.I love rumaging through car boot sales and old seconf hand shops - the anticipation of unearthing a whole set of Mars Attacks cards or some other scarcity is the best feeling in collecting. Not because they can be sold on but because there is no way to predict what will happen. Ebay auctions have a similar feel to them and they have revolutionised the hobby but I still prefer the social side of collecting ( and yas I actually uncovered a full and original set of Mars Attacks at a car boot and proceeded to buy them for 50P!! Other great car boot finds have included the frogman from the thunderball 007 frogman toy, an original 1966 Batman handkerchief, a mint condition fascination game, a super condition Battle of the Little Big Horn game and a dinky slumberland die-cast van. Ebay has been fantastic too - my favourite finds have been a rubber outerspaceman and an original Batman 60's answering game. We can never get our childhoods back but with Ebay and car boots we can get a glimmer of what it felt like.
