Hello! I am retired from 27 yrs. of state government service and have one grown son. Sadly, no grandchildren but, as they say, "hope springs eternal"! When an early retirement package was offered by my employer awhile back, I gratefully accepted and did most of the little things we plan to do with our retirement. I then found myself with lots of time to pursue my interests and not lots of money to fund them. Frankly, I started to get bored. While my career had been stressfull and demanding, I found myself missing the intense social and physical activity it required. So, I got a partime job as a lunch shift waitress to fill that gap (oh, my sore feet!). It is about as different as one can get from my former position but I enjoy the customers and the running around, and have been at it for 5 yrs. now!
I discovered doll collecting and Ebay when a dear friend gave me a Wendy as a gift. She had purchased it on EBay and that kindled an interest that soon became a wildfire. As a child I was not terribly interested in dolls, was more the book worm & chemistry set kind of kid, but I did have a Madame Alexander Wendy and Cissy that I loved. I spent endless hours making a house for little Wendy out of carboard boxes, and furnishing, painting, making pictures for the walls, rugs, and curtains, out of available materials. With my friend's gift, I reentered the world of small dolls and discovered a new learning opportunity and a love for them, especially the ones that are 'sad' but can be made happier with some minor fixup and cleanup, and nice new clothes when needed. Like many collectors, I soon found myself with too many to properly appreciate. It was not my intention while collecting to become a seller but I found it was a way to pass them on to new homes and, hopefully, help fund my continued collecting. As a small scale amatuer seller I do not make much money, seems more of an adoption pursuit, but I enjoy it and am very pleased when the new owner is happy. That IS my goal as a seller. I continue to collect and have recently expanded my interest to small baby dolls. They are so sweet and so much easier than the real ones, although I love the real ones too and am still hoping for that grandchild!!
SPECIAL THANKS TO MY DEAR FRIEND WHO GOT ME STARTED IN ALL OF THIS WITH HER THOUGHTFUL GIFT, AND MANY MANY THANKS TO MY FELLOW SELLERS AND BUYERS WHO HAVE MADE EBAY SUCH A FUN AND REWARDING EXPERIENCE!
