Dear Gabbie,
We are your neighbors, you know, the ones who get to stay outdoors when we want??? Since we are, in fact, your outdoor neighbors, we wil refrain from saying "ha ha ha ha ha ha," (with the common tune young humans use when they're taunting).
We've noticed something's up in the Hood, and we're curious. As the humans say "curiosity killed the cat. Satisfaction brought it back."
Hey, kitty, tell us about yourself. Why should we listen to you?
--Kitty City Cats
Gabbie,
Hi, Oh please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Gabrielle Goldilocks M---------. I am all orange except for the white on the tip of my tail and a little white on my face. I am not at all thin, but my human Mom understands.
My family says I earned my name. When I was first adopted, they kept me in a separate room and you know what? I heard other cats carrying on in the rest of the home. I had mixed feelings about this, so I let everyone know, in no uncertain terms. They say I've quieted down since then, but Gabbie stuck.
Goldilocks? Where did that come from? My family says that once I joined the rest of them, I acted like purrhaps I'd been there for a long time. They said I wasn't very careful about honoring the territorial boundaries of the other two feline inhabitants, Jaspur and Mikey. After all, they were here first, they were older than I, and that was supposed to mean something? At my tender age of several months?
My Dad calls me Goldie, sometimes, because of my primary color, so that's part of it, too.
I answer to either one.
We all have several names--our real names plus love-names. Mom calls it "kitty talk" but it's really "human talk meant for kitties," if you know what I mean.
Back to Goldilocks; my middle name and such: we have been fortunate in that the humans we own are very careful to honor our boundaries, and, really, most of the potential CATastrophes we averted ourselves.

Dear Gabbie,
So what about this cat jewelry thing, how did you become the spokeskitty for Animal Lovers' Jewelry? Are there any plans in the works for human-theme jewelry?
--Kitty City Cats
Gabbie,
All three of us took an interest to the string and Mikey has come the closest to getting into the bead box. When he does, our Mom looks as though we're about to be in the dog house, except, well, we won't talk about the feline version of that phrase.
Though the other two relate to Mom's jewelry as potential toys, I noticed the artistry involved. I often sit at Mom's feet, watching her string those little goodies, and I must admit that it has crossed my mind to suddenly paw up there to bring them down to cat level, but it doesn't seem to be our Mom's favorite thing. Most of our play is considered cute but not causing the beads to CATapault. That's different.
Our Mom is highly concerned about the welfare of all cats, and there would be even more of us living here, if that were possible. She also wants to contribute to worthy causes--primarily feline entities, for the betterment of all felines. Ten percent of their monthly income from this business will be given to worthy causes.
Mom and Dad were talking the other day, noting that Dear Abby was for humans and Dear Tabby had already been taken, but Mom wanted more interaction from us in this catly business. Dad suggested "Dear Gabbie," and I agreed to be the spokeskitty for ALJ.

Dear Gabbie,
What is this jewelry made of? Who fashioned it?
--Kitty City Cats
Gabbie,
The commercially-made cat items are made of Sterling silver, with gemstones added, in some instances. It is my understanding that these are made in Italy.
The hand-beaded cat-theme items are composed of gemstones such as black onyx, fancy jasper, brown goldstone, topaz, crystal and glass, which all work together to form late-summer/autumnal shades for humans to wear. I understand that new colors will be introduced at any time, such as rose quartz, green adventurine, turquoise, lapis lazuli, a true blue, and more.
My Mom makes these by hand. Since she cannot see the colors, she keeps each bead type in separate zip-lock bags. She adds a label in braille to place inside each bag, which she can read from the outside or when she opens up the bag. She creates the patterns as she goes. It was when I noticed that she matched each side of the center bead that I realized this wasn't cat's-play. (Though I sure wouldn't mind if it was.)
She wrote an article on her beginning efforts at beading, to be found either elsewhere on this site or at our mother site,
http://www.catliness.com
and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't appear in CATLINES, our monthly MEWSletter. Mom edits and publishes it, and we serve as suPURRvisors and helPURRS in the process.
