Thank you for checking out my profile in detail. As you can see, my rating is
100% PERFECT
I value this high rating and will continue to maintain it.
The only blemishes that I have on eBay, very old negatives and one neutral, are
detailed below. When you're done viewing the mistakes, please be sure to check
out the many great comments below that were left by other eBay'ers!
Buyer Beware (July 2001)
My Second and LAST Negative eBay Experience:
I placed a bid on software for my Palm VIIx computer (which I
purchased on eBay - which has proven to be an incredible purchase!). The bid was
for $4.00 for software that retails in the stores for $29.99 and up. I thought,
"I'll never get it at this price... better watch this one closely." As it turns
out, I won the bid at $4.00 (S/H/I brought it to $10.10). I hurriedly sent a
United States Postal Money Order to the seller (after emailing him to confirm,
of course).
Almost a month later, I emailed the seller inquiring as to where my item
was and to let me know when it shipped. He replies stating that he NEVER
received payment (he never emailed me to find out where payment was... I should
have been mad, but wasn't).
I then agreed to submit ANOTHER PAYMENT of $10.10 to him (this means that
I had now spent $20.20 on a $4.00 bid win). I emailed him again to let me know
when he would ship the item. He emails me back about two weeks later
stating that he did not receive the SECOND PAYMENT. I was now angry. I
sent him an email stating that I would report him to eBay and that I was going
to the post office to research a Money Order Search (which I didn't do because
the post office wanted $7.50 for each MO search and that would add another $15
to my $4 bid win).
Finally, realizing my emotional outburst mistake, I sent him an apology email
(apologizing for being mad and emotional, and not being businesslike and
professional as I should have been). With that email, I sent him a THIRD
PAYMENT via PAYPAL. This way there is NO WAY that he could claim to have NOT
received payment (I have a receipt now!). About two weeks later (which
now totaled about two months), the software arrived (as advertised).
The seller emailed me stating that the software had been shipped and that he
would appreciate POSITIVE feedback left for him AND THAT HE WOULD DO THE SAME.
So I left him POSITIVE feedback as he requested. He then, just a few days later,
left me NEGATIVE feedback! What a shock! Why?!? I was indeed shocked and felt
really betrayed and taken for $30.30! Fortunately, the amount was only
$30.30 and not much, much more.
I have reported FORDMAN-72 to eBay (Transaction Non-Performance) and have
sent him an email with those stipulations. unfortunately, eBay cannot do
anything about it since it was such a small amount of money. eBay has informed
me of different ways that I can prevent this from happening again. This true
account is written to show you all one way to make sure that YOU don't have the
same encounter with FORDMAN-72 or any other such seller.
Learned from this one: Just because a seller has a good
rating, doesn't mean that you will have a good buying experience. "Caveat
Emptor", as eBay warns... Buyer Beware.
Quick To Rate... My first Negative Experience
Also my first experience as a buyer:
The seller emailed me to give me his information about price, mailing address,
etc. He neglected to inform me that he could not receive emails (probably due to
a mail server error of which he did not know about). I responded to his email
(via email, since I didn't know he couldn't receive them).
A couple of days later, he sends me another email. In it, he threatened to give
me a negative feedback rating if I didn't contact him by email (and he left no
phone number or other means for me to contact him). I had already sent payment
to the address he gave me in the first email (complete and less than a day after
I won the bid/item).
Since that time, the seller and I have overcome that difference. In fact, I
found out that he is a very nice person who had just simply had problems with a
few other eBay bidders who did not pay him as they should.
Learned from this one: Always give each other more than one
means of communication.
Going, Going, GONE! The Neutral Experience
My very first experience as a seller: If I had known then what I know now...
I listed an electronic organizer that I had every intention of selling on eBay.
Without my knowledge, it was sold by my then-wife, now ex-wife, BEFORE I
could finish the transaction with an eBay bidder. I didn't get the chance to
communicate this with the eBay buyer (who was upset, but very understanding).
This one ended with me getting a neutral rating.
Learned from this one: only sell an item that you and all
other parties involved intend to sell.
The eBay
Way
So now, I am enjoying the eBay experience with this new
found knowledge. It does take a little practice to become a highly rated eBay'er.
I acknowledge the high ratings of other sellers and bidders. And I applaud their
efforts and experiences with eBay. I look forward to bidding, buying and selling
many more items on eBay
May God bless you and walk with you all
of your days.
