Molly has been making doll clothes since fifth grade when she took orders for and made custom Barbie clothes for her classmates! Later, when her two boys were young,  Molly was a professional seamstress. In the 1980's, she also had a business making children's appliqued bibs and aprons. These were marketed in gift shops throughout five states! Molly is now a Licensed Psychologist, assessing and treating children and adolescents. Sewing doll clothes helps to pay her student loans and is her therapy! 

She herself has the Pleasant Company American Girl dolls Kit, Nellie, and Josefina. Kit is pictured on the display shelf in the photo to your right.  Molly is most interested in sewing one-of-a-kind vintage-type doll clothes, but has also made contemporary 18" doll clothes for her niece Ella's 18" Gotz doll Amanda and American Girl doll Samantha.

Her Straight Stitches by Molly label is sewn inside every doll garment Molly creates. All doll clothes from Straight Stitches by Molly are well-constructed and meant to be passed down from generation to generation of doll lovers. Molly still has the beautiful doll clothes her grandmother made for her mother's 22" Shirley Temple some 70 years ago (see her website)  She and her husband have two sons, but Molly hopes to have granddaughters someday so that she may pass down her dolls and clothes to them!

Molly's sewing room used to be her son Hans' bedroom. Believe me- it did not look like this! Picture a Jimmy Hendrix tapestry, tie dyed sheet ceiling, dark turquoise walls. You get the idea...Molly transformed it into her sewing room. Imagine- the ironing board is always up so there is no excuse for not ironing! Note the vintage patterns in the shadow box over the sewing machine as well as the vintage paper doll clothes under glass. (All from Ebay, of course!) Another shadow box has folded embroidered hankies that belonged to her Grandmother Frazier. The shadow box behind the lamp has in it a crazy crocheted "sewing doll" that Molly found at an antique store. It has wooden spools of thread for hands and feet! Molly's talented husband Ross designed and created her solid cherry sewing table, chair, and shelves. The shelf over the sewing table has places for Molly's various scissors and sewing machine feet to hang. Clever, eh? Molly sews with her 1976 Kenmore swing machine. It was top-of-the-line in its day and is still kicking! In case you are wondering about the ceiling and beams, Ross and Molly live in a solar earthbermed home!
