I am an artist. Always have been, guess I always will be. I have a BFA from Ohio University (which is meaningless as I went to college when it was unpopular to actually teach anything, as it may damage a students creativity, among other stupid theories of that era). When my children were young I worked mainly as a portrait artist, mostly working in watercolor and graphite. Then I got the bright idea to quit art, and I was almost successful at it too. My non-artist phase lasted about 10 years or so, but even the last half of that period was filled with decorative and tole painting as well as faux finishing and murals. When I decided to return to painting I wanted to do something that I had never done before, and in spite of a painting major I had never ever tried oils. So you guessed it - oils it is. And while I don't seem to be able to get away from portraits and people I have gained a real appreciation for still life, and I am enjoying painting them very much. Truth is I have an inescapable love of painting people and doing portraits, alway have, always will I guess...that is when I am not painting a new still life set up. By the way, I am also experimenting with acrylics, using them in ways I have never tried before, as well as mixed media. I am having a great deal of fun, and I feel I am growing creatively and in skill development.

In November of 2007 I began working toward daily painting and blogging, and found that I really enjoy it - a lot. So after nearly 18 months (as of this writing) of being fairly consistent, I guess now is the time to take it public.
