Recycling Yesterday's Treasures
I just love old things. I love the way they look and feel, but most of all I appreciate the quality and workmanship that went into older pieces. My love started 30 years ago when I was 12 and bought my first vintage item at a flea market, a head vase that I still have. We lived in a large old house at that time, with dormers even on the inside windows and 12 foot ceilings. The house was even complete with a claw foot bathtub. I have loved vintage things ever since that time. I started appreciating vintage and antique jewelry when I found a very interesting and unusual brooch, possibly a watch or medal fob, about 16 -17 years ago. I now live in a 107 year old house that is full of charm, complete with an art deco light fixture that may have been here since the house added electricity. The most industrious recycling project I have done so far is to turn an antique piano with internal problems into my computer desk.
I am a stay-at-home mom, and it was a logical step for me to use ebay as a venue to match yesterday's treasures with new owners when a need for extra money arose. Now I am learning about the things I have loved for so long, meeting new people through my customers and the ebay community, and having a lot of fun in the process.
I thoroughly enjoy finding vintage things and getting them into the hands of someone that will appreciate and treasure them as much (or more) than their original owner. I have a special fondness for old lamps and fixtures, and a growing love for old jewelry. But just about anything vintage catches my attention and inspires me to find them a home.
