Welcome to the About Me page
for Out of the Bluegrass. Being born and raised here in Kentucky, I thought it would be nice for my eBay ID to say a little something about our beautiful Bluegrass state. My family and I live in Louisville (pronounced LOO-uh-vul), home of the world famous Kentucky Derby, with our little Sheltie, Murphy.
What I Collect and Sell
My hobbies include collecting
vintage 1950s and 60s Mar-crest dinnerware, cookie jars, Hull, McCoy, Makers Mark, Kentucky Wildcats and Kentucky Derby stoneware items.
Pictured below are some of my cookie jars. If you like, click here to see my MSN group called Cookie Jar
Collectors.
Mar-Crest daisy and dot stoneware was produced by Western Stoneware in the 1950's and early 60's for the retail distributor Marshall Burns, out of Chicago. My collection started about 10 years ago, after spotting a Mar-crest cookie jar in an antique mall identical to the jar that held mom's homemade cookies. Below are some of the jars from my collection.

My original online Marcrest group is simply called Marcrest. It's an MSN discussion group that opened in late 2004. When it was picked up by Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search
engines, the number of unique daily visitors prompted me to open the newer and larger site, Mar-crest.com.
I hope that you will find both the discussion group and the website to be helpful, and that you will visit often. Both sites have Message Boards if you would like to talk about Mar-crest with other collectors, buyers and sellers.
