Valentine

 As I sit here munching on a Chocolate Valentine heart from See's candy, let me state that I am first and foremost an artist followed closely by a chocoholic. Somedays it is too close to call. I was given whatever talent I possess by the Lord and I acknowledge it freely.

  Both of my parents were fabulous artists,,so the love of painting & drawing was sparked at a very young age. I have had a long period of time where that part of my life was tucked away raising 2 children & husband and running a Beauty Salon!! I did practice art in a very finanical way through cosmetology. Which gave me a outlet for my creativity.

   My children are grown and my last grandchild is in first grade I finally have the time to get back into the things I have missed. Creating ! I started by painting murals. my daughters home is a show case of different murals throughout the house. I started in the kids bathroom with Alice in Wonderland theme. That sparked my granddaughter's imagination and she wanted a Harry Potter themed room which consists of all of the main characters and scenes from the movie. My eldest grandson wanted the Mummy he's really into all things egyptian,So he has scenes from the mummy painted on his walls. and then there's Christian 6 who couldn't make up his mind between treasure planet ,ice age or finding Nemo... Nemo won.

  I watch crafting and DIY shows at some point every day , never know when a idea will come from. that lead to sculpting which fascinates me making a 3 dimentional painting if you will.

  I recently bought a new sewing machine, I thought my husband was going to faint from the shock!He continues to be confused. But I have found wonderful prim patterns from talented Ebayers that they create I love these ladies.  I find their patterns to be creative and fun.

Believe Santa

  I collect antiques, paintings, Santas, anything with a history. It's exciting to hold something that someone used and loved a 100 yrs. ago. I adore vintage Santa postcards that I recreate on canvas. Some of those cards are 80 and 90 yrs old and are like tiny pieces of art.

  I recently stumbled on to  Lenci dolls. they are cloth dolls the are extremely high priced collectibles that were created by Lenci in Italy. The faces on his older ones are the most amazing things I have ever scene. Which inspired my newest sculpture Valentine. A mixed media doll that I hope recreate for other holiday pieces. I also sculpt gourds with a paper clay mostly Santa's ,snowmen, all one of a kind pieces.

   I have displayed my work at a couple of shows , mostly Prims,  I have had positive success and would eventually like to do the Christmas show next year, but it is sort of intimidating .... we'll see.....
