Why Invest In A Rare Book Or Comic?
There are two types of book people. There are those who simply love books, and have bookshelves packed full of old and modern classics, and then there are those people who see books as money-making ventures and who buy books to sell on. I try to cater to both types of buyer.
It's a little known fact that there is thousands of pounds to be made from buying and selling books. Not hundreds, but thousands. People make huge profits every day, picking up genuine signed copies and valuable first editions and then reselling them weeks, months or years later.
Some resell the books immediately, for a quick profit, while others hold on to them for years, quietly waiting for them to increase in value, or waiting for the next Hollywood blockbuster to come along and send prices soaring.
And it's not just books that can be potential moneymakes on eBay. There is also money to be made from investing in rare and collectable comics, both rare key and early issues of popular series.
I have tried to make my rare and collectable books and comics available to anyone and everyone, book sellers, book lovers, and those who know nothing about books or comics. To this end,I start all of my auctions at one penny and never set a reserve price, giving everyone the opportunity to bid on some of the most valuable collectables around for just a penny!
No matter what your interest in books or comics, by browsing my eBay online auctions you will find a selection of rare, valuable, and true signed and first edition books and comics each carefully selected and presented to my buyers as an investment opportunity.
When I list a book, I often mention the value by stating the asking price according to the Guide to First Edition Prices 2008/2009 published in the UK by Tartarus Press. The Guide lists the current prices of books paid by collectors. Please note that my prices are intended as a guide only; the condition of any book is important and defects will affect the value.
I clearly mention the condition of my books and comics and all are Fair, Good, Very Good, Near Fine, Fine and Very Fine. Please note that any book or comic I sell other than one that is Very Fine will have defects both to the book or comic itself and/or the dust wrapper.
Book grading is subjective, but I do my best to list my items correctly. Please read my auctions carefully, and ask any questions, or request any further information which may be needed, before placing a bid and committing yourself to a purchase. And bear in mind that my auctions all start at a penny, and sell for below the current price guide.
