In this time of attempts to rehabilitate the environment and other failing systems, we rehabilitate books. We feel that a sturdy but cosmetically flawed softcover edition from 1980, when cleaned up, repaired (if necessary) and slipcovered, is often a better book than a brand new edition put out this week. You can feel the difference - the pages are tighter, the slipcover turns it into a tough read you can drop into your backpack, messenger bag or pocket without destroying it. Loan one of our slipcovered softcovers to a friend, circulate it among many friends or release it into the unknown at a Bookcrossing, to be found by a stranger, hungry for a good story. These volumes wear like iron. It's just our special good deed to encourage literary excellence in Western Civilization... Slipcovered volumes will be noted in their listing description and not all softcover books that we sell are slipcovered. All hardcovers with dustjackets have mylar wraps on their jackets and odd sized books may have a custom made cover. Collectible hardcovers that are minus jackets usually have a slipcover applied directly to the book to protect the cloth or paper boards.
