Hello!
My name is Marcia and I am a new-to-the-field lampwork artist. Born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Western Washington became my home in 1984.
I reside approximately 8 miles south of historic Port Townsend in a small town named "Chimacum". This area is home to many, many, superb artists.
My admiration of lampwork bead artistry has grown over the past decade. I have discovered my "favorite" lampwork artists online and although I have always thought it would be interesting to learn the art of making these beautiful beads, I simply did not make the opportunity to try my hand at it until the Fall of 2007. I began perusing the online forums and numerous websites.The LampworkEtc forum became my constant companion and my primary source of guidance. Because of the excellent information available there, as well as the sources referenced, I completed the purchase of my equipment and finalized the set up of my lampwork studio in October 2007. I would like to thank all of the forum participants, lampwork artists, instructors, suppliers and those who so generously share their knowledge, guidance and expertise. It is because of you that I was able to light my torch for the first time in November of 2007, and the rest - as they say- is history. I have been enveloped and consumed by the desire to discover the new, exciting colors and designs that come to fruition each time I sit down at the torch.
Artistic creation has always been an important ingredient in my life. I have pursued a variety of artistic adventures, all of which required a love of color, form and design. I am hoping to be successful in supporting myself financially by doing what I find to be personally rewarding, artistically creative, and esthetically pleasing to others.
It is my goal and my wish that you may find my bead creations to be a compliment to your own artistic endeavors in jewelry creation or that perhaps my own completed jewelry designs may simply provide you a pleasant feeling when you wear them to enhance your wardrobe.
